Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC question - Can you play the game normally as a vampire?

If you become a vampire and not side with the dawnguard, can you continue to play skyrim normally and continue the main storyline and all the sides except you're just a vampire?

Yes you can, just dont stand around in sunlight and get some fire resistance.

Yes you can be a vampire and play normally, villagers wont attack you on sight even if you are a vampire, but if you transform into a Vampire Lord they will become hostile.
