What's with haste/mastery on PvE drops?

Why do we have haste/mastery on our Warrior dps gear instead of having a useful stat like hit or expertise? I just replaced one of my 463's with a LFR drop, 'Jasper clawfeet' and I lost some strength and a lot of crit. I also got another LFR drop today, http://www.wowhead.com/item=86822
why does this also have haste and mastery and why is the bloody bonus for haste? I'm losing much needed stats when dropping heroic 463 gear.

Items at the start of expansion are always poorly itemised, there was a post made about this a long time ago, as it ensures a good progression of your character. Rather than gaining small amounts of your best stats next tier you'll drop a poor stat and gain an amazing one, for example.

That sounds all well and good until you realize that haste/mastery is perfect itemization for the other two plate dps classes, and that's not even considering that every trinket in the tier is haste based. This tier is just poorly itemized overall, other armor type are suffering the exact same homogenization of itemization, which favors a certain class/spec far over all the others under the guise of 'first tier is always like this on purpose dudes.'

True, but I'm sure I remember our DK complaining about crit on everything at times too. Swings and roundabouts. It's hardly by accident either they itemise things in such a way, don't see how it couldn't be on purpose.

Probably because if it were hit/mastery or exp/mastery, tanks would be fighting dps for the items as well. Just don't gem for the bonus if it's not crit or str.

That's why reforging was introduced, half my gear doesn't have the stats I need the most. It's the same for most classes/speccs.

As of right now, outside of DW Frost, mastery is by far the worst stat for DPS Death Knights. So I also hate seeing haste/mastery, but progression is progression even if it my best in slot now isn't my best in slot for the rest of the expansion.

    Not entirely true.

http://www.wowhead.com/item=86177 Necklace, with crit and mastery
http://www.wowhead.com/item=86219 1H Sword, with hit and mastery
http://www.wowhead.com/item=86213 Shoulders, with crit and mastery
http://www.wowhead.com/item=89826 Belt, with crit and expertise
http://www.wowhead.com/item=89832 Chest, with hit and crit

These are all just in HoF as well.

Don't get me wrong, I have noticed how much stuff is loaded with haste (especially our trinkets ) but it isn't TOO awful, there are still quite a few pieces to hunt for with good itemization.

For anyone that actually doubts this, take a look at the healer tier sets this time around. All 5 of them have the exact same stats on each piece of gear, despite different healers favoring completely different things. The "poorly itemized on purpose" excuse is BS, they're just lazily itemized with the same stats everywhere.

Cuz last expansion was all crit gear, this tier they love dks and paladins more.. Not sure why we have haste on our tier pieces tho.

Blizzard try with each patch to cater to certain classes more than others, simply because there isn't the time to create a specific trinket/chest/gloves/legs etc. etc. for all classes and specs, and if there were you'd be waiting ages for your BiS to drop anyway. I'm pretty sure next raid will have a ton of Crit gear and this exact same topic will come up in the DK/Paladin forums.

I am a little confused though as to why the only two trinkets that drop in this entire patch are BOTH filled with haste, and also why our tier has haste on it too. They could have at least catered to Warriors with our own tier gear and given us a trinket alongside Relic of Xuen. But honestly, it's been this way previously and we still end up pretty high amongst fellow melee, so I'm not too concerned.

Couldn't they do something like they had in Sunwell where you can trade an item for another with a Sun Mote? In an example, we could trade a Final Orders with Haste in for a Final Orders with Crit alongside a Mogu Mote, but a Final Orders with Crit, Haste, and Mastery all exist on the loot table. That way, a Haste one isn't wasted if you have a Warrior and no DK or Pally, and the trinket is still more valuable for the Warrior than it would be currently.
    Thanks Soko<3
