I don't think it'd be bad if the red states all seceded and we had the Republic states of america and the Democracy States of America as 2 seperate countries

I kind of wonder if things would actually be better had that just happened back in the civil war, cause clearly this is a nation divided........

Then maybe re-merge into 1 country after seeing which side does better as a country, and reforming the USA as all whichever party worked out better

Several problems with this.

First, this isn't a North vs. South issue so much anymore. We've expanded so much, the divide would split the "Democratic" states right in half.

Second, we have quite a few states that are "swing" states for a reason. They don't lean either way consistently.

Third, no matter how die-hard "red" or "blue" a state is, there are people from the other party living there.

Fourth, this whole pile of bullshit is coming from the same people who were gung-ho when Bush won by a tiny margin, but can't handle losing by a much more considerable one. They won't be happy, ever.

So Texas wants to leave the Union, and what's the leftist reaction? "Send in the tanks! Blockade! They will never survive on their own!" Not surprising, considering some of the worst mass murderers in history were socialists (Stalin, Mao Zedong, Kim Il-sung, Castro, Pot Pot, Hitler), that kinda reaction goes along with what they might do in a similar situation...

First off, most of the reaction to Texas leaving in this thread so far has been "Good, let them leave." Secondly, 5 out of 6 of the people you named as History's worst mass murders, they are straight out Dictator's/Communists, not socialists. Castro, one of history's worst mass murder? Not even close, oh right and he was a communist. Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao Zedong, communists, very different from socialism. You should try looking at an actual definition once in awhile. Kim Il-sung and Hitler? Bat shit freaking crazy dictator's. But by all means, go on with your offensive reaction of smearing anyone on the left side of the spectrum as mass murders and killers who are only out for your blood. It's really helpful to toning down political misgivings people are having right now.

I've found one through independent research, but the site has the tag line "Powerful Conservative Voices" so I mistrust it slightly.

Plus, one of the counties they are claiming showed high possible fraud went to Romney. The only other county they cited as high probability of fraud has gone blue for years. And despite their claims of 1.8 million fraudulent registrants across the state, based solely on the fact that voter turnout is below voter registration numbers, 1 million less than the adjusted number voted in this election.

The claims seem to be coming from that True the Vote group, who are--to be very generous--dubious.

As a conservative Republican I am begging you to give President Obama and those that voted for him everything they want.

They want higher taxes on the rich and companies, give it to them.

They want higher capital gains taxes that will hurt their investments, give it to them.

They want a system that will make Medicare insolvent in 2024 and Social security insolvent soon after that, give it to them.

They want policies that will lead to constant double digit unemployment for minorities and young people, give it to them.

They want an educational system that entraps the poor in failing schools, give it to them.

They want higher energy prices, give it to them.

They want to spend trillions fighting global warming while China and India continue to tap oil and coal, give it to them.

They want $20 trillion plus in debt, give it to them.

They want the Obamacare penalties to kick in next year, give it to them.

They want a larger more powerful Washington DC, give it to them.

They want a more secular society that is more hostile towards religion, give it to them.

They want a more “fair” society run by bureaucrats, give it to them.

They want socialist cronyism, give it to them. They want to go down the road of Europe, give it to them.

Give it to them and let’s find out once and for all who is right. If we are right, they will have no one to blame but themselves and maybe we will finally get true change in this country and maybe we will finally get true change in the Republican party and have a real choice in the years to come.

If we are wrong, then so be it. I will gladly repent from my evil conservative ways and become a socialist, I mean Democrat.

It could be that they actually believe it. I have seen Republican posters (well, one in particular) say that they don't post links because it's something that they figured out. Doesn't really serve your argument well when you're making an assertion about a recorded event without being able to provide sources to back it up.

It is a relatively safe bet that some actually believe it. Its kind of sad too but its easier for some to believe a comfortable lie than an uncomfortable truth.

The US government has racked up $16 trillion in debt. The US debt is now bigger than the entire US economy. As reported in the Russian Times, “before President Obama took office, the debt was $9.6 trillion. During the [Obama] presidency, it has increased by $6.4 trillion – two-thirds of its 2008 amount. The current president [Obama] has overseen the largest debt explosion in US history.”

President Obama did more than oversee the largest debt explosion in US history. He overspent us into the largest debt explosion in US history.

To give you an idea of how bad this is, let’s take a look at just one of the $16 trillion dollars your family now owes, and what all that debt means to you and your family.

How much is a trillion dollars?

Few of us will see even a million dollars all at once in our lifetimes. Even fewer of us will see a billion. And no human being, in the history of the world has ever amassed a trillion dollars.

That is why, for most of us, a million dollars or a billion dollars are abstract concepts.

A trillion dollars is not an abstract concept for the US government. It intentionally overspends more than a trillion dollars each year of the Obama presidency. This year, the fourth year of the Obama presidency, is the fourth consecutive year that government has overspent by more than $1 trillion.

That's $1 trillion in new government overspending, on top of all the existing government programs, on top of Stimulus 1, after Stimulus 2, and after the government bailed out hundreds of banks, General Motors, Chrysler, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (and, through them, more than 2/3 of US mortgages), after the Federal Reserve's "Quantitative Easing 1," after "Quantitative Easing 2," after the government took over the student loan industry, and after it rammed through “ObamaCare” against the will of the people; a massive government power-grab which, will cost another trillion and more, while giving control over more than one-sixth of the entire US economy to unelected bureaucrats in Washington.

After all that spending, on top of an already bloated and big-spending government, President Obama then overspent an additional $1 trillion in each year of his presidency. “Simple math says that a $1.1 trillion deficit on a $3.8 trillion budget is ‘overspending’ by 40 percent.”

Let’s go back to the original question: how much is a trillion dollars? If you spent one dollar every second around the clock, it would take you 31,688 years to spend a trillion dollars.

The US government has overspent your money – not by $1 trillion, not by $2 trillion, $5 trillion or even $10 trillion. It has overspent your hard-earned money – and money not yet earned by your children and grandchildren – by $16 trillion.

You didn’t overspend the $16 trillion. Our government did. But you and your family are now on the hook for it all. So how long will it take you to pay for all of their overspending?

• To pay back one million dollars, at a rate of one dollar per second, would take you 11.5 days.
• To pay back one billion dollars, at a rate of one dollar per second, would take you 32 years.
• To pay back one trillion dollars, at a rate of one dollar per second, would take you 31,688 years.

The median American household income is about $50,000 per year. That translates to less than one tenth of one cent per second.

So, if your family earns $50,000 per year, and if you spend none of that on food, rent, transportation, income tax or even pursuing your own happiness, and if you take all of your family’s household income and use it — not to pay down the government’s current debt, but just to pay down the $1 trillion in new debt that the government overspends each year – it would take your family 32 million years to pay for it.

Now, multiply that by 16 – because the government is now $16 trillion in debt – to see how long it will take for you to pay it back.

That’s five hundred and twelve million years. Yes, 512,000,000 years.

That’s insane.

There has to be a return to sanity in Washington and the leaders we elect must deal with the crisis and stop the spending. We cannot waste our future by never being able to pay back this insane debt.

Every family knows they cannot live outside its means and expect to survive. At some point you will have to pay the price. Likewise, if the country cannot do so, we, as a nation, will also pay the price.
