Already said I knew it was an act, thanks for repeating me though!
But please, provide some proof, that he actually gave the money to charity, not something that he said himself, because just no.
I've been around charity people long enough to know that their motive is never "for the cause" but mostly "to boost my ego"
Short, the charity is probably an act, like the trolling.
I'm sure most of the people who've donated to charity have considering he wasn't donating his own money, but raising it from others for the charity...
Anyway, why is this thread even continuing? I am one of the guys posting here against Athene, and even I still can appreciate he helped a charity and it wasn't hard finding it on their own website:
http://www.savethechildren.org/site/...I4E/b.8157995/
So kudos to him for helping out an organization such as this!
But that doesn't change my opinion of him being a tool. Maybe I have this backwards and its the gaming community members that support him that are the ones I don't like. People say they like him cause he "acts" like a troll? I agree with the previous poster that asked if it was ok for him to be a dick cause he is doing to your face. Not sure about a lot of you but I don't think acting like a troll is something to be respected, it's fairly pathetic to be honest. I don't know, maybe I just have values that clash with others or just values, period. I've seen his other videos/shows where he is doing other things besides being a troll and frankly he seems to have the same personality even when he isn't so-called "acting"
And do I think he did the charity work for any other reason but to help? Doubtful. I'm sure it was to increase his own fame as much as anything, but I could be wrong...
Ok he killed Diablo on MP10 nearly naked, and no I don't think I can do it nor do I even care to, so yes good for him he kept his focus for 2.5 hours. But what kind of person who does nothing but game for 10+ hours in a day not have the focus to play for 2.5 hours?
Can a mod just lock this before it starts to get worse...

Regardless what I think of Athene of a person, I applaud him for the time and effort he puts in these charities.
Big grats to him!

Stop with this ludicrous "OH NOES ITS A SCAM" garbage, it's quite pathetic.
Ehh...I wouldn't exactly call this "naked" if he's wearing a godly-rolled weapon and quiver. But at the same time, using a grey bow and no quiver would make this pretty much impossible...bagh.
Having more posts in an athene thread than you do in this whole section is why i made that call.
Charity fraud is a 20 billion dollar a year business, stop being nieve.
As vook said, the weapon in d3 is the most vital piece of gear. Diablo is also a pretty easy fight, about as hard as azmodan
Ceo makes over 500k to run a charity? Ya sounds legit.
"What needs to be understood is that project expenses includes employee salaries. So although they list over 91.7% of funding goes towards program expenses and 3.7% towards admin expenses, one quarter of the 91.7% of program expenses are made up of the salaries of those individuals carrying out the projects. All charities report income in this manner. It is a recognized and accepted accounting practice.
Of the $406 million in program activity expenses listed on the most recent audited financial report, $66,992,000 was spent on salaries and $23,099,000 on employee fringe benefits. This information can be accessed from the Save the Children website at: http://www.savethechildren.org/publi...ments-2008.pdf "
One of many examples you can find doing simple research.
My fav charity scam is the dropboxes for old clothing that goes to "the kids". When it reality it goes to fabric recyclers in texas, lmao
Athene might be a complete douchebag, but the fundraisers he does makes him differant than any other youtube "Gamer" Swifty makes videos and gives away gaming accessories but athene actually Trys to make a differance.
