And then the combustion, pyroblast, and ignite damage that is spread from the boss to the other mobs is reduced by 25% when you spread it. I was wrong to say that the damage is completely unaffected but it no longer double dips like it used to.

It wouldn't work that way for rogues because blade flurry never double dipped like combustion did. If the boss is taking 33% more damage then blade flurries damage is reduced by 25% and the bosses damage multiplier is completely negated.

This is how it worked in Cata but no longer. It did work as you described on Gara at the start but got hotfixed, there's a blue somewhere about it. spreading combustion is always good for us but it no longer matters if we spread it off a target taking increased damage or not, it just gets reduced.

I edited my post before I noticed your response, but those ticks only got reduced by half, not by 75%, so it would still be advantageous to combust a target that is taking increased damage unless the damage of combustion is specifically coded so that it does not double dip on damage multipliers.

I have to admit my understanding of exactly how combustion works isn't as good as I would like it to be.

Me too oO I thought it would just spread with the current combustion value on the leg to the body. That's why I assumed it would work the same way on Windlord. Maybe I should ask this in the official Mage forums. This is kind of unintuitive, even more if the logic changes from boss to boss.
