New Player Help

I am a new player to raiding. I play a resto shammy. I'm on a server and a guild where the only competition to realm firsts are months down the line half the time. I have been messing around with UI for when I raid, and have not like the outcomes so far. What would be some good UI mods to look into getting and other useful addons. Currently I am first on the healing charts without a healing addon >.>
