Building a new rig!

Hey guys I'm still deciding on the 3770k or 3930k for the processor and gtx 680 or 7970. Other parts haven't really thought about yet. The rig will be mostly for gaming and video editting if the 3930k is just a slight upgrade should I just get the 3770k?

i7-3770k with dh-14 or a H100 as cooler should do wonders for you then.
regarding GPU nvidia usually beter for new releases and performance is worth the price. (if budget allows check for zotac AMP card)

As for the CPU, take the 3770k. Altho depending on how heavy you are going to edit, a 3570k might suffice.

For the gpu, check which games you want to play and decide on that (plus pricing of the card). I would personally pick a 7970 GHz edition.

16gb should do the trick, unless you can grab a cheap 32gb kit during black friday. (but 32gb is utter overkill imo)

Went with a 680 in my new build from a 6970 in my old build. I don't know what nvidia has done. But I have had more driver problems in the last 2 months than I ever had with my AMD card.

Its always a back n forth AMD has had horrible drivers and nvidia has horrible drivers at one point or another. Most recently was probably the few driver sets after 6xx cards were released that had issues that come to mind But I've had a few AMD issues in the past also. Best thing for the OP to do is look at both brands unbiased to what games, programs, other functions excel more on which card in the budget hes willing to spend then make a decision on his own research. Since 90% of video card questions turn into zomg nvidia is better or zomg amd is better. But price to performance Id get a 7970ghz currently if I had the money .

Sorry for the crap grammar only had 2hrs of sleep -_- so 3770k with h100 cooler. What kind of mb should I get?

You're getting a 3770K with a X79 motherboard, an expensive one at that. You should opt for a $130-150 Z77 motherboard. X79 is a 2011 socket where as 3770K is a 1155 socket CPU.

Are you sure you want to get 32GB RAM?

While EVGA makes good quality cards, consider going for a non-reference PCB with a nice cooler like ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI.
