    VisionTek Radeon 6970

I was currently looking around at video cards, and came across this:
    VisionTek Radeon HD 6970 900579 for $189.

Now it doesnt have the typical coolers or what not, but the price made me question the actual quality of the card compared to other 6970s that are still be sold, for more than $300.

Can anyone actually help me understand if this is actually a good deal, or if its just some PoS.

Visiontek makes nice stuff, nothing wrong with buying their products

It is actually bottom barrel for AMD non reference boards. Visiontek and Xfx are not exactly where I'd aim, now Powercolor is a decent company but not as reputable as others.

I've had no problems since I bought my XFX 6950 2 years ago. "Bottom barrel" sounds like bullshit to me.

Thats like saying the 1 person out of 10 who has no problems ever makes the 10 peoples issue non existant. Im glad you had a good experience, it is not typical.

None of my friends are too good at computers, when I build systems for them I always go for XFX cards and out of the 6 I built I've had 0 issues with them. Besides, even if XFX has issues with some cards, it's not like other brands have no issues.
I think you're brand bashing here, XFX has no bad reputation and it should be treated as a viable brand just like the rest of the brands out there, just like VisionTek is.
