No you cant avoid the dmg by removing the fear. however, if you use immunities like ice-block - you can avoid the damage and the fear.
If for whatever reason (perhaps add sub 2% or something), and you feel the need to stay out, just throw on a shield, shield wall and break the fear with BR.
As a lock I just Dark Bargain + Will of Forsaken, works rather well.
But also as a warrior having leap for getting out of the breath + charge is probably more efficient.
The damage is the same debuff as the fear. It just depends if fear immunities actually work. I would give it a try in LFR.
The buff you get from coming back from the panda platform just says it makes you immune to fear effects (and does make you immune to the damage and fear), but I have no idea if player buffs work as well.
It will prevent/remove the fear depending on when you use it, however you will still take the damage.
This is actually not the case. If you use Cloak of Shadows, for example, you will see 2 Immune/Miss messages pop up. One of them is for the damage, the other one for the fear.
Those are the 2 different spell IDs used in the heroic encounter for example. The tooltip states the same - the actions (apply aura fear/damage) don't.
