    Choosing a realm

    Hey there guys
I have decided to come back to WoW after a 4 year break (Quit near ending of bc) and make a fresh start. However i am not really aware how the situations on the realms looks. I have done some research on wowrealmscencus, wowprogress, wowpedia, etc., and i can't make a choice where i should play. I have played on Burning Legion previously as it is dominated by the polish community and i am polish myself, however i would prefer something different this time, like a community with a mix of different people and also a well balance ally-horde ratio. I have been considering EU Maghteridon but i am not sure how the situation looks there.
Im just looking for some advice on where i should restart my WoW career so that it will be easy for me to come back to the game and learn and understand all the features that have changed since BC.
    Thank you for all help

(sorry about some bad english )

Pick something Low Pop cause you are guaranteed to still get stuck with 8 other realms. Also, you don't want to wait hours in queue just to log in and play on a Friday night. Best thing I can offer ya.

This is great advice if you hate having a decent AH or a plethora of guilds to choose from.

You're right. Pick a high pop realm for the AH and guilds... enjoy the wait to log in and being at the bottom of the raid chain since they already have their 25 man main and alt teams full. But, if you just explain you're new and deserve a spot, I am sure they will understand

Middle server. Use WOWPROGRESS.COM to find a server that has guilds who are doing heroic modes, but evenly spread between Alliance and Horde. Realms with one faction flooding over the other stink. You don't want a realm where there is only one or two guilds progressing heroic modes - it means you have an underdeveloped server (and thus your realm economy will stink).

    Bad realms for new players:
    Illidan (all horde)
    Stormrage (all alliance)
Archimonde (one guild doing heroic progression and only 1/16 heroic, most guilds haven't cleared more than 4/6 in normal MSV)

Realms in the 90-140 rank are nice middle ground realms. Choose one of those that has a good spread of Alliance/Horde (1:1 ratio is always the most even) and then your playstyle (PVE, PVP, RP, etc). A quick overview yields:

    http://www.wowprogress.com/pve/us/aggramar
    http://www.wowprogress.com/pve/us/nordrassil
    http://www.wowprogress.com/pve/us/frostmane
    http://www.wowprogress.com/pve/us/madoran

This is just a quick pick. There are tons of great realms. You don't have to pick a realm friends are on anymore, because Cross-Realm Zones exists now. Good luck, welcome back.

As mention cross realm zones kinda makes choosing a specific realm kinda null. Honestly i would choose a medium pop server so the AH isnt completely dead and inflated.

I would go for a Medium/High populated server. They usually have best variation of guilds
