    Well, no.

    Alarms are a deterrent. One that's perfectly visible from the outside of the home, day or night. Best part? It costs less than a cheap handgun and would drastically reduce the chance of you ever needing a firearm.

    Nukes are kept as a 'deterrent'... Which is all well and good until someone uses one.

    The guns purpose is still to shoot things. If the gun can not shoot, then it would fail as a deterrent.

    I knew someone would say this, but don't a lot of untrained gun user have their guns used against them? If the other person goes for your gun and it cannot shoot then it's also worthless.
