The Internet American Moratorium Act of 2012

    Source: http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/27/tech/w...internet-bill/

I haven't read the full contents of the bill yet, but on the surface this looks promising. After SOPA, PIPA, and CISPA, maybe congress has learned its lesson. Will post again later once I have read the contents of the bill.
"There is no teacher but the enemy. No one but the enemy will tell you what the enemy is going to do. No one but the enemy will ever teach you how to destroy and conquer. Only the enemy shows you where you are weak. Only the enemy tells you where he is strong. And the rules of the game are what you can do to him and what you can stop him from doing to you." -Mazer Rackham - Ender's Game Orson Scott Card

Seems like the government tying its own hands for no good reason. If they don't want to regulate the internet, they don't need to sign this bill to avoid doing it. It's meaningless.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

I agree with the concerns brought up in that article. The internet is a vast and fluid creature, nobody knows what it's going to look like 6 months from now, let alone 2 years. Tying your hands just to have them tied isn't a good idea.

    Makes sense.

Tied your hands so people cant bitch about you not "controlling" it. Now all the "evils" of the internet cant be used against you when you run for office.

I'll link the article if i can find it but a few groups want all porn, file sharing, and other "bad" sites banned from the internet. for the childrens sake.

I won't comment on the last line as it would serve no purpose but to derail the thread. But you might have a point about the first part, I hadn't thought of it that way.
