Question MF clipping to cast another MF

I have an observation/question -- is it a best practice to clip MF between the 2nd and 3rd tick to start another MF?

I just tested and it doesn't appear to reduce the number of ticks per MF cast. I cast 6 MF on the raid dummy, clipping every one between the 2nd and 3rd tick, and I have 17 MF DoT and 1 MF in my recount, so that's still 3 ticks per cast it seems.

Gnosis updates to show 4 possible ticks on the next MF cast (the last tick of MF that I clipped is added to the front end of the new MF channel I think??)

If this is how it works, the advantage I believe is that this would 100% eliminate the possibility of having latency between channels.

    Are there any disadvantages?

    Thoughts?

this is how mindflay (and most if not all other dots/hots) have worked since cata. if you recast them with 1 tick left, that tick gets added to the next dot (which will have a slightly longer duration). it's pretty lulzy with warlock curse of doom, but for most other spells it winds up adding ~1 sec to the duration.

also your gems/reforges make no sense. you should reforge everything you can to haste and gem int instead of reforging to crit and gemming haste. you're probably missing out on around 1k spellpower with your current setup. like your glove/boot/offhand/shoulder just from a glance have no haste on them... you should be reforging things to haste on these slots and gemming for more int. if you mainspec disc or something and just swap out spirit gems for quicks because they're cheap then i understand, but if you're mainspec shadow you should really really really try to reforge/regem. you'd see a significant, consistent improvement.

The 320haste gemming is probably a result of AskMrRobot false optimization, i'm seeing this a lot lately, they have to ban this gems.

It was based on some custom simC stat weights for a specific fight. I often regem and reforge depending on what heroic we're working on.

Depending on how many targets and how many interruptions in spellcasting you have, stat weights and optimal spec can change significantly.
