It's alright, I'm not really in the mood for it right now though.

Bothish. I was able to have a small conversation around 1 year in, although it was mostly military terminology. At the end, I was able to hold some pretty good conversations with Koreans I knew.

    That's cool
For now I mainly want to be able to understand it hehe, then speaking it can come later but right now I'd have no use for speaking it. But plenty for understanding!

Though they probably come kind of hand in hand partly, I've never learned a second language and people usually say they can understand it before speaking it properly

    Had to, why?

Been thinking about learning Japanese since I started watching anime. However after listening to kpop, I think Korean sounds nicer.
I'm just plain bad at languages though

I had to learn it largely by immersion. My instructors were pretty brutal in the NO ENGLISH IN CLASS way of learning. It was that and having Korean friends to practice with.

Korean is easier to learn than Japanese from what I understand. The alphabet for Korean is ridiculously easy to learn. Honestly Asme just sit down for an hour with the Korean letters and you'll have learned most of them, except maybe the complex vowels but the rest is easy.

My unit was a linguist unit so everyone was required to have a language.

I've been thinking of taking Japanese at uni. I just love Asian language and culture.

Well that's military tutors for you
Right from the beginning or did they at least let you learn the basics first? xD

Koreans are crazy. I don't understand them. Why don't they just merge their countries into one? That's what I would do. Silly Koreans.

Learning a second Asian language is easier than the first?

    I can already see what's Hangul and what isn't, it's a start
The old Korean alphabet is kinda hard though, same with Japanese...

The complex vowels aren't too hard if you understand the basic ones. You just end up combining the sounds for the most part.

    The basic alphabet

We actually had native Koreans as instructors xD

We had around a week or two to learn the alphabet and some vocabulary and then it was trial by fire.

Mainly to warm their hands up in the first few games, and not getting their hands cooled off in the later games There's always some excuse for APM spam, because in the end, it's APM SPAM!
