Different locations. Most of my "college" friends are in the deeper portions of Los Angeles and Orange County. For instance, I'm basically driving 40miles to go see The Hobbit with them down in Torrence. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, I'm driving down the street to see it with my friends from my local area, Ventura County just outside LA County.

It's logistics. I'm pretty sure they'd get along, but I highly doubt there will be an opportunity for them to meet up.
