Same here, though I had an NES at one point. But I only had super mario for it and I honestly, truly sucked at it.

Wind Waker is better than all the early Zeldas anyway, and Link to the Past is the best 2D one

Well, have fun running through the game with one good pokemon. I wanna play a game where I can level them at least close to equally.

I thought it was more grindy than any since gen 1

Maybe just because I didn't have a water type since there is absolutely NO variety

I have heard that opinion a lot.

Maybe I'll give Wind Waker a shot someday.

I'll never know for sure. I'm not intending to continue my playthrough any time soon.

There are some exclusives to each version, but each set can do the job equally well (for example, Vulpix/Growlithe (both Fire types))

    Ok.

Have fun grinding for days for a couple levels on random encounters, because the grass pokemon are ten levels below anything necessary for you to fight, all the while if you decide to level a new pokemon, you might as well make a week out of it.

To be fair on the 2d ones, A Link to the Past doesn't have much competition. Link's Awakening is ok but rather bland. Nobody liked Zelda 2. Which really just leaves the original The Legend of Zelda. Any portable versions of the game left me uninterested after Link's Awakening.

Link to the Past is great and so is Link's Awakening. Link's Awakening is sad. T_T
