    Heroic Starshatter Vs Normal Shin'ka

I don't understand how people are saying that a Heroic Starshatter is better than a normal Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion. The stats of the Crystallized Terror way exceed the Starshatter that doesn't have a socket. Expertise at the high end gear is really not needed rendering the expertise on the Starshatter useless, especially if you are an Orc. The mastery is much more beneficial even though it is one of our lower stats. Valor upgrades don't really make much difference seeing how the scaling doesn't change. +500 strength is still invaluable. Not only this but when you get the second Legendary gem, Refined Crystallized Terror you will then just have wasted 1500 valor upgrading your Starshatter.

If I'm wrong, someone please explain why.

Mastery is more useful than expertise even though mastery is our worst secondary stat as 2h frost? Eight extra item levels on a weapon don't make much difference? Do you listen to yourself at all?

Are you dumb? The difference is 6 iLevels. I can upgrade starshatter and Shin'ka twice and the difference is still 6. Hmmm lets see, 1,294str on starshatter vs 1,223str +500 = 1,723str on Shin'ka...

I feel like you made this thread for the sole purpose of making fun of anyone that disagrees with you.

You said valor upgrades don't make much difference because the scaling doesn't change.

I responded to what you said, if you mentioned the difference between an upgraded sharshatter and an upgraded shin'ka I would have responded to that.

And yes, shin'ka with a gem gives more strength.

It also has less weapon damage and worse stats.

You could make a valid argument for using shin'ka anyway when you have to aoe though.

You come here to open a new thread about something that have been discussed in a lot of others threads, and still lack on understand what have been discussed before?
It's not based on the primary or even secondary stats that makes the sword better than the axe, it's only the weapon dmg, where Starshatter have higher value, and on stats weight weapon dmg is better than strenght, or even if you consider all the others stats, the sword will be higher than the axe.

Starshatter VS Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion

    S.W. (T14 N)
    WDPS: 8.43
    STR: 2.89
    EXP: 1.95
    HASTE: 1.55
    CRIT: 1.14
    MASTERY: 0.84

    Starshatter
    1,294 strength
    949 critical
    716 expertise

    1,294*2.89 + 949*1.14 + 716*1.95 = 6,217.7 + 4,725.1*8.43 = 46,050.3

    Reforges
    • Crit -> Haste
      569 crit
      380 haste

      1,294*2.89 + 380*1.55 + 569*1.14 + 716*1.95 = 6,373.5 + 4,725.1*8.43 = 46,206.1

    • Expertise -> Haste (all the expertise is needed)
      430 expertise
      286 haste

      1,294*2.89 + 286*1.55 + 949*1.14 + 430*1.95 = 6,103.3 + 4,725.1*8.43 = 45,935.9

    • Expertise -> Haste (all the expertise is over-cap)
      430 expertise
      286 haste

      1,294*2.89 + 286*1.55 + 949*1.14 + 430*0 = 5.264,8 + 4,725.1*8.43 = 44,382.3

    Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion
    1,223+500/550 strength
    815 mastery
    815 critical

    1.723*2.89 + 815*0.84 + 815*1.14 = 6,593.2 + 4,468.2*8.43 = 44,260.1
    1.773*2.89 + 815*0.84 + 815*1.14 = 6,737.7 + 4,468.2*8.43 = 44,404.6

    Reforge

    Mastery -> Haste
    489 mastery
    326 haste

    1.723*2.89 + 489*0.84 + 815*1.14 + 326*1.55 = 6,824.6 + 4,468.2*8.43 = 44,491.5
    1.773*2.89 + 489*0.84 + 815*1.14 + 326*1.55 = 6,969.1 + 4,468.2*8.43 = 44,636

This is what I get. I hope my math is right.

Depends on what you get. In depth math use Italiandk post, or just do a quick math depending on your stat. I did with mine and just accounting for strength and weapon DPS for my current gear, Starshatter (hc) comes about 1350 DPS better, but since I already have the axe and I am orc I get to save that 340 expertise into haste and I already upgraded it using VP.

So if you have both use Starshatter (hc) and try to upgrade it as soon as possible to 2/2 or if you have the axe just upgrade it as it is now, since your dps boost will matter until you get the Starshatter.

Weapon damage on starshatter is better. Point for point weapon damage is better than strength for 2H. And you're looking at 1k weapon damage vs 500 strength.

Even ignoring that, expertise + crit > mastery + crit (especially when the former is also at a higher iLvl budget.

How did you get 1k weapon damage? Afaik, it's a difference of 257 weapon damage?

Probably he meant min/max damage, you are right about weapon damage difference.

Yeah I was talking minimum and maximum. Different than dps. But, I should have been talking about dps which even still 257 weapon dps > than 500 strength.

Strength to Weapon damage value: 3:8. Pretty obvious which one the winner is.

Not 1k weapon damage, but 1k in point difference based on what the stats weight to you. Weapon DPS stat value is in almost all cases above 8, strength is between 2.6-3ish+.

Iam sorry, you are the one who is dumb, really.

Starshatter HC upgraded has ALOT more Weapon dmg and dps which is more value then stre.
I loled and you made my day.

Don't post just to be mean. He made one of the best points in this thread. Upgrading is linear. An upgraded starshatter will have the same jump from normal -> upgraded as an upgraded shinka would have normal -> upgraded because its an increase in iLvl, which is just an increase in available stat budget. It just so happens that starshatter was better in the first place, as thoroughly discussed.
