    System Upgrade

    I have $330 for upgrading my PC and would like to get the best performance for the money.
    My specs
    CPU-AMD Athlon II x2 255 3.566Ghz (oc)- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103896
    GPU-EVGA GTX 470- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130550
    Mobo- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157204
    Ram-8Gb DDR3- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820576006
    HDD- 500gb - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145299
    PSU- Corsair 650W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005
    I am considering either replacing my Mobo and CPU with The intel 3570K CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...6504&Tpk=3570k and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157314 (mobo)

    Or

    Keeping my current Mobo and getting a Phenom II 955BE - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=phenom%20955
    And also getting a EVGA GTX 660SC- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130826

    Which one would offer me the best gaming experience for the buck? Also if you feel i should make any other upgrades instead please share your idea. Thanks =)

    Just upgrade the CPU only

    CPU -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116504
    Motherboard -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130644

    Your ram should be fine. You'll notice a lot more from the cpu than the gpu if you're playing wow.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

    Um you could go with the Phenom 2, a HD 7850, and a SSD drive. I would say the best thou would be the intel and mobo upgrade thou.

    Right now im leaning to Just the 3750k and a Mobo, but one thing scares the hell out of me that the GTX 470 might bottleneck the 3570k Any thoughts?

    The best thing to do right now is, if you got the money go with an ivy bridge cpu (3570K). Going over that video card, it's actually a good card still. You'll get a good jump in performance upgrading your AMD chip. Go with an Intel Z77 (socket 1155) socket. Don't have to spend a fortune on the motherboard.

    From there if you're still not satisfied with the fps in wow then I'd recommend maybe getting a gtx 660 or better (depending on your budget).

    Also think about getting a SSD sometime in the near future if you had one and install wow/other games on there as well. That's help with load times.

    If this is an upgrade for WoW or general tasks the 3570k+Mobo is definitely your best bet. For other games the 470 will probably bottleneck the 3570k. However on the flip side if you take that 300 and were to get like GTX 660 your current CPU will bottleneck that pretty hard as well.

    Go for the CPU+Mobo upgrade this time around and next time you have some spare cash replace your video card.

    If you go 3570k Make sure you get an aftermarket cooler at least a CM Hyper 212, and then overclock it to at least 4.2 out of box.

    Uhm a graphics card can't bottleneck a cpu but a cpu can bottleneck a gpu. Also, just don't go for a new graphics card yet even the 7850 is not worth it. There's only like 20% difference between a 470 & 7850.

    Just ignore any any AMD cpu because they perform very very shit in games which are core limited, ie WoW.

    Overclocking an AMD fx8350 to 5GHz they reach a score of 1.27 in cinebench 11.5 while any SB/IB can do 2.0 easily, single thread ofc.

    I wouldn't say AMD is crap for WoW...WoW is 8 years old I built my friend an AMD build 4-5 months ago it had a amd 4100 asrock mobo 16 gigs of ram a SSD, a 560ti,a 23 inch 1080p monitor and it hits wow with 60 fps with everything maxed except shadows. Yes the I5 is better then the AMD but people exaggerate how bad AMD is for wow or SWtOR its not bad it's just not as good as the I5.

    Even the i3 is better than fx8350 (@5GHz) for WoW. http://semiaccurate.com/forums/showt...t=6626&page=19 -> score of 1.27 @5GHz

    i3 -> 1.37 score http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/344

    People are not exagerating that AMD is bad for WoW, just because it is. Swtor is heavily multithreaded and surely the fx8350 will slap the i3 to another planet.

    I wouldn't say 60fps is bad on the build that I linked I mean I have seen proof with my own eyes that you can get 60 fps and higher with a 1080p monitor at max settings except shadows on WoW. Now your not going to get 60 fps with higher end res setups but I bet most people are not going to use those setups they are going to use 1080 or less. I don't need benchmarks to tell me I have seen it with my own eyes and I have a 2500k for my setup so it's not like I am an AMD goon.

    Actually I am an amd fan. Hopefully they will bring cpu's out performing twice as fast than intel, so Intel would be forced to bring better out and they will. So I'll buy another Intel again.
