Pretty obvious since they had Cathar models working in game at launch. What else would you expect?

The scary thing is that if it takes them close to a year to give us cathar then how long will other species take?

Pretty sure we have awhile to go before we reach a year after they announced cathar as the next race.

Its already taken them a scary amount of time to impliment the race considering it will likely have the exact body structures of the other races. It's not like WoW where every piece of armor needs to warp to the new frame.

Come up with a few cat stripe/spot designs and different shades of cat then release it! It dosn't seem like it should be taking them this long. Yet again they poured thier efforts into the terrible F2P design and seem to have plenty of time to make stupid flight suits and pets for the cartel market.

Don't ever expect a playable race that is not the same skeleton as the playable races already in the game. You'll just end up disappointed.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

    This ^

In the time it has taken them to add a new game WoW would have more than likely finished a new species and started beta.

Admittedly WoW has a bigger team, but at the time of BC the dev team can't of been much bigger and within about a year they added 2 new races.

I would understand the time delay if it was a completely new species that wasn't in game anyway (e.g no compaions no npcs.)

The skeletons and builds of cathar are no different from any other species so getting armour to work wouldn't be hard, not to mention we already have the companion and you can check most gear on him with no issue.

Some people have never heard of priority changes.... . Cathar could most likely have been implemented long ago. Why didn't they do it?

    - as we know, Bioware was used to have big patches with lots of stuff implemented
    - as we know.. things turned out different from what they were expecting... Illum PvP desaster for example, bugs in endgame content etc.
    - as we know, SWTOR turned F2P which means that they had to make most likely a big transition to make F2P available, not to mention how many meetings have to be done to decide to go from one payment model to another one
    - as we know, Bioware has supposingly changed their release settings, instead of bringing hugh patches they add content every 6 weeks which also means that even if for example already finished races/ warzones etc. could be released they will keep it until 6 weeks are over to stay on a save side to not falling short with releasing "something" every 6 weeks

Taking these "known" aspects it's pretty self explaining why we do see this race only sometimes "soon" but it doesn't mean that they can't implement other species much faster if they want to.

True but most of the changes and work they have done has been more to the world and adding new pve/pvp content, not sure how much of that would invovle the team that are working on new species.

Personally i think they should have held of announcing cathar untill they had a release date so save the hassle of people always asking 'when'.
