It was so stupid they basically folded it into the game (with ilvl requirements).

Gearscore has been in the game since LONG before WotLK. We're not talking about the addon. People have bragged about ilvl since vanilla when it was discovered and stuff like GetItemInfo came around.

What happened to my aunt? She's almost 40 now and it's like she doesn't even play recreational sports anymore. Why is she dying?

Intelligent and interesting thread, I expect a highly constructive discussion.

Yes and no - back then it was more about bragging about the colour than the actual worth of the item. Not my point either which is quite clear, but nevermind...

Itemlevel and gearscore aren't the same and in classic it was all about color and resistances. In classic people just knew that epic>blue>green and that resistances are the most important thing. In BC it started with ilvl and in WotLK it started with gearscore which didn't look at the itemlevel but instead at the ratings. For each class each stat gave a certain amount of points which added made the gear score. So when your most important stat was crit you had an higher gear score with an suboptimal crit build than with the optimal build.

Today ilvl is a good indicator for gear because Blizzard changed the way items get stats and you can easily say that an item with an higher itemlevel will be better than an item with a lower.

Also to the topic what happened with WoW.

Yes I can see that there are a lot of other hot topics on the frontpage but I think that's because people got more efficient. What hot topics did we have in the past? It was all about strategies about bosses, guides, theorycrafting and so on. With very good datamining and a lot more knowledge about the game and its mechanics people can start theorycrafting before a patch hits live and can tell you hours after the PTR goes live what will change and what will be the best gear for which class.

Every time when there's a hotfix or a new patch for the PTR there are a lot of new threads in the forum with a lot of people discussing things and like 6-12 hours later it's over and everyone goes back to normal.

Only the noobs and bads are glad it's gone - because it exposed them.

10mil subscribers compared to any other MMORPG is certainly dying. Alert Blizzard to dissolve what few players they have left!

Everyone is happy it's gone - if anything it was a tool used by the "bads and the noobs".

What does WoW have to do with what's happening on the MMO-Champion forums?
Do you know that the progress race for Tier 14 finished weeks ago?
