I want to write a song but truthfully I am not very musically inclined. I can strum many guitar chords decently but picking is an issue and time is an issue. Just wondering if anyone wants to help me write a song.

haha, nice, so far I am using only 4 chords, just not those 4. I am just matching up lyrics to chords at the moment. I will record it when I am done and youtube it for everyone (I can't sing BTW)

Make sure those chords fit. Want it to sound beautiful, and bright? Use some open Major Chords. Want it to sound beautiful, yet melancholy? Throw in some good open Minor Chords! One thing I think people realize, but don't truly understand, is that you've gotta match the music with the feel of the lyrics. Some songs do an excellent job of this, just look at "Wish You Were Here", by Pink Floyd... (actually almost all of Floyd's songs have the music and lyrics match up perfectly) to the contrary though, "Today" by The Smashing Pumpkins is basically a song about suicide, yet it sounds so incredibly gorgeous, minus Billy Corgan's borderline annoying voice.
