Casual guilds will not be able to down MV in blues Heroics only give 463 Ilvl Items, Scenarios give 476 pieces, Crafting can give you access to some 476 pieces unless you wanted to craft them yourself because that involves more dailies, Killing the Sha gives you 476 boots.

so using only gear from heroics and scenarios only you can get up to 469 ilvl which is more than enough for LFR so no you don't have to do dailies
but youll have to do tons of heroics and scenarios or if you have the gold buy some of the crafted pieces.

Are dailies needed? Yes and No. Yes if you're in a casual raiding guild whose raid is not composed of 10 good players. This is most guilds. You'll need to severely out gear the content in order to see it in normal modes, which means grinding the dailies for charms and valor.

If you're in a group where everyone can pull their weight and not get carried, then no, dailies are not required. But from my experience, people will need to get carried. Again, not talking about progression guilds, or guilds with the best players, but just your average guild or below average guild.

Then ifcasual guilds cannot clear the raids and want the VP gear then they will need to run dailies. Still a want not a need. I do think 6 hours a week for raiding is pretty casual. We just happen to be long term players who have raided since the start. We may classify as something a bit more than casual. But we have killed the normal bosses in under the average amount of pulls. Heroics we are right on queue for average pulls it just takes us longer due to time constraints.

I said it earlier. They are needed if you want the lesser charms to turn in and if you want the VP gear, recipes and extra rep goodies. If you do not want any of those then dailies are not mandatory.

You do realize that the majority of guilds are not composed of players who can clear MSV in blues right? Yes, you may have done it, it can be done, but it most likely won't be done by the OP. So yes, for a certain localized population on a server, dailies don't need to be done. The majority of players do dailies because they need to do them in order to progress, because they have different constraints than your group does. Why people like you have a hard time understanding this, I do not know.

Yes I do but that does not mean that dailies to get VP gear is mandatory in their situations. They may want the gear to help. It still does not make it mandatory to raid. If they want to clear MV faster they can do a couple of things. Hone their rotations by doing some research. They can make sure they have the proper reforgings/gems/chants. They can do dailies to get better gear. Again no on is forcing them to do that to raid. However, if those people want rep mounts, rep gear, recipes, and tabards the only way to get them is to do the dailies. Also again, two weeks the amount of time spent on dailies in the two weeks needed to hit revered is much less time spent in raids attempting to get the similar or better gear.

The big difference is want and need. If you want something do what is required.

You don't understand. It is a need for most groups. You speak in absolutes, but there are no absolutes. Your group does not need dailies. Other groups may only need a few dailies. Most groups will need the dailies because, again, they have different constraints than your group does. There are different wants and needs for each guild and each raiding group. In the majority of cases, except for a few, daily gear is a need, not a want.

Blizzard acknowledged this when they put the scaling buff for ICC and Cata dungeons. They recognize that most guilds will not be able to clear these dungeons without a boost, and they needed that boost in order to do it. Why you don't recognize that the daily gear is needed for most groups, I don't know.

Casual doesnt equal bad. Or at least it shouldnt. There's plenty of casual players who are great at the game, just need to find them.

    Short answer: yes they are.
Long answer: no they aren't, but only in the same way that gems, enchants, flasks, food, etc are not required. You can do the content without any of the above, but you're an asshole and holding back your group by doing so.

If you want the factions to exalted. Yes, they are required since it's the only way to get rep at the moment.
