Because guns are bad and if you like them you should feel bad. Sorry but truth.
Because humans are hard-wired to fear what they don't understand.
Cheerful lack of self-preservation
Probably because it's possible to defend yourself against the other objects you listed.
Someone attacks you with a knife, you run. Someone throws rocks at you, you laugh and get confused. Someone rushes you with a plastic bag, you assume they're retarded and feel bad for them.
Someone points a gun at you, and you basically die. You can't run, you can't get out of the way, and you can't stop them.
Guns basically exist so pathetic people can feel powerful, and if you don't have a gun you're at a massive disadvantage in every situation. They should either be illegal, or given for free for everybody to have. The more people with guns the safer it is, but when only a few people have them they're far more dangerous.
Yeah, you're the usual delusional gun nut claiming crime rate is comparable to murder rate. Its hilarious when people pull out the crime rate statistics and then avoid comparing the murder rate statistics. Again its a pathetic obsession. When it comes to gun crime, the UK is better, so no I won't stop stating facts.
We also have a far lower incarceration rate of 148 per 100k compared to US of 716 (the highest in the world) good job on guns keeping you safe.

People are more afraid of guns than ever before because society has changed so much in such a short amount of time. A lot of crazy people out there shooting up schools and work related places on pretty much a daily basis in America. You rarely ever heard about things like this happening as little 20-25 years ago, thus people and society was more at ease. JMO.
Why shouldn't you be afraid of guns? When did a fear of deadly weapons become a bad thing?
That's not to say that you should worry about getting shot all the time (unless you're regularly in danger of gun violence,) but anyone who doesn't fear guns at least a little is pretty stupid IMO.
Because they have a long range, high accuracy, extreme deadliness, and there's almost nothing you can do to defend yourself against one except hide, and even then it's iffy. What's more, is that the person shooting at you doesn't have to put themselves at risk to do so. These seem like good reasons to fear guns.
Because people need something to blame for criminal problems. They can't blame themselves for being aggressive for no reason, so they blame guns. If there were no guns, they would blame something else: knives, rocks, etc.
Bingo. As firearms have been around for almost a thousand years (there's evidence of them from the 12th century), making one is pretty damn simple. It's Pandora's Box, it's been opened, and trying to ban them is literally impossible.
We hear all the time in the news about the bad things done with guns, but you rarely hear about the good things. Weaker people fighting or scaring off stronger foes.
It's all fine and dandy, I'll keep my guns as a world where the strong prey on the weak is barbaric. The gun is civilization.
Also, no, you shouldn't fear them. Fear is irrational. A damn healthy respect for them, hell yes. Same as any object that can seriously injure you (good example people use everyday, a car)
What? Did you not hear about outlaws in the Wild West or mobs in the 1900s? People have always been shooting up whatever they want. And the answer has always been more guns to get rid of the scum. That's why we have police today... because at some point we gave someone a gun and told them to shoot anything that screws with society.
I'm all in favor of legal gun possession for citizens, but this reasoning is the most asinine drivel to over come from the argument. Of COURSE any number of things can be lethal. In fact, on paper, it's INCREDIBLY easy to kill a person with your bare hands. Hell, you don't even have to get physical. You can easily administer a lethal dose of something highly poisonous in someone's food or drink.
But NEVER has killing been as easy as it is with a gun, both physically and psychologically.
It makes absolute SENSE to be afraid of guns, and you'd have to have some sort of cognitive impairment NOT to be. Unfortunately, it's the state of things that mandates us to have something of our own to defend ourselves against those with guns who wish to do us harm - our own gun. But it takes a substantial amount of fear to responsibly own a gun, especially legally. You NEED to be afraid of the possibility of someone else, especially a child, getting their hands on the gun to take the necessary precautions to prevent it. Or to prevent your gun from being stolen to commit crimes with.
