Alienware Aurora, worth it?

I'm getting a new computer soon with a budget of around £1,800 and was wondering if the Alienware Aurora is worth getting as a gaming set-up? bare in mind I want a pre-built desktop and not looking to build one myself as I don't know how to -_-

1 last question, sorry - is the website "cyberpower" any good for building a computer?

Pretty much this. Or, if you're absolutely dead-set against building your own (and you don't have anyone to help you), there are better prebuilders out there. In the UK I'm pretty sure there are companies where you can buy the parts and they'll assemble them for a small fee.

NO!I bought an alienware computer as my first proper computer and it was overpriced as hell >.< The only reason i got it was because it had pretty lights(I'm a sucker for pretty blue lights ) and before that the only computers i knew about were normal bland boring ones :P

It's really not worth it, you pay alot more for the Alienware brand than the actual hardware. If you don't wanna build it yourself there's plenty of other deals that are more financially feasible than the Alienware. Alternatively educate yourself on how to build a computer yourself, it's not too hard really. Browse the internet for guides, look at build suggestions for your budget etc, everything can be ordered online too, quite simple.

No. MAke a custum built. better and cheaper

and you dont neeed to assemble the parts...pay the extra for assemble and configuration. but YOU pick up all the parts. you will see with that budget you will get one better then aurora and save money

Brand bashing one of the better options, it could be argued the x79's aren't worth it because x79 is just not. Beyond that Alienware thermals are better than most people's custom builds and its a smaller case. They do supply a very very good support team, including coming out to your house and fixing issues, no RMA situation. In the money range Alienware/Dell are absolute best choices for prebuilt, especially in the laptop market m17 and m18 are top tier laptops.

Seems quite overpriced... I did build my first computer a week ago. I had no issues, as long that you read manuels or watch youtube videos.

Only issues i ran into was placing the cpu fan, which I spent my time on, since it's probaly the most dangerous thing to adjust.

There are many websites where you can pick the parts you want and they build it for you and preloaded windows and send it to your door. They mostly give you some free tech surport for a couple of months after.

I recently used http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ to build a gaming laptop for my G/f's birthday present, cost around £800 and is absolutely stunning preformer. I sudjest you take a look at this sort of thing before wasting your money on Alienware, which is basically just Dell garbage with some shiny lights on the case.

Most people will say no, because it's cheaper to build your own. And yes it absolutely is cheaper. You will pay extra for the brand name, but there's a reason for that. I have an Alienware Aurora I dropped money on. I could have gotten the same thing for $500 less. But the quality of it wouldn't be the same. Less hassel of building it yourself and the warranty and customer support that comes with it makes the extra $500 worth it to me. If I built a custom PC I don't think it would be as visually pleasing as my Aurora

Even if you don't know how to build your own computer you should have it built for you. Go down to any computer store and ask if they can help you assemble it. Or if you have a friend who knows what he's doing, ask him. I help a lot of friends build their rigs and I (As every geek) think it's fun and don't even charge for it. The computer store WILL charge for it though. Maybe 50-100bucks, but that's money well spent.

Don't even think about Alienware, it's absolute garbage! 15 posts can't be wrong, trust the interwebz :P

I highly recommend pcspecialist.co.uk Reasonable prices, it will tell you if the pieces don't work together etc.

They also have some pre built PC's that you can have a tinker with.

You can get all the same sort of aftercare and warranties from a company building a PC for you, plus you still save yourself a load of money. For the extra £500 - £800 you spend on alienware ALL you are getting is an Alienware case with some shiny UV lights an a cool logo.
