The Quest "The Greatest Prank" is, according to me, a reference to the film called "The forbidden kingdom.
In this movie there is a monkey king who is imprisoned in jade, which is done by the jade warlord, exactly the same thing in this quest, where you have to find
the monkey king cuz he has the mallet for the divine bell. the monkey king in the game is a hozen and the jade warlord is a mogu. a quite fun reference in my opinion.

The Forbidden Kingdom and the Hozen monkey king are both based on an old chinese novel which in turn is a fictionalized version of the life of a real 7th century monk.

But in a way, yes you're right. Several aspects of the monkey king story in wow do come directly from the movie, such as being imprisoned in jade (the monkey king in the novel is imprisoned inside a mountain).
