Wrong. People will still acquire other guns illegally.

I'm no gun expert, but can't you conceal a handgun easier than you can a long barrelled gun like a rifle or shotgun due to it not being two feet long?

Wrong, the problem is more complex than a law like that could handle. Also the type of person who would commit crimes with guns would not care about a law restricting gun purchases, thus they would have no issue with purchasing one illegally.
