Absolutely. I suppose people always have to bitch about something though.

this is pretty unique. this is the age of fake reality and people seem to love it. i'm the only one in my family who doesn't watch that crap. everyone else loves it
this isn't really about musical style/genre changes as much as how we're openly sold crap. we're happy to get crap at a high rate. it's better than quality at a lower rate.
This is happening because we're losing our religion, which is our moral code. Today's generation is increasingly rudderless. They've been duped to think religion is about the Earth is 6000 years old, instead of the bedrock of your moral fiber. So they discard their religion without truly realizing what they are missing. Without a moral code, adults are becoming increasingly child-like, unable to care for themselves, unable to nurture their own minds, doing nothing with their leisure time beyond sitting in front of a TV watching Honey Boo Boo. So then they get their moral code from Hollywood, or the government, neither of which has their best interests at heart.

Those sources will replace their moral code with being a consumer and a child. Hollywood teaches them its best to buy crap they don't need. Government teaches them that government knows best and they should listen to them or else go sit in timeout.

Religion will make a comeback, once the people begin to truly feel their souls starved of anything meaningful in their lives. Could take a while, though.

Small business's. Only major corps like walmart can afford to stay in business with their massive buying power.

I would rather go with a moral code that came to being from reasoning rather than random rules 2000+ years ago where someone cherrypick the "best" parts and claim it as a moral code.

Religion established some rules, yes. But they were not first to do those codes nor have they been the best, in my opinion.

Religion killed more people then Hitler, Stalin and the black plague combined, hows that for a moral code?
Just to make things clear, I don't hate religion, it makes me just really angry that some religious people think atheïsts don't have morals. I'm an atheïst and I believe I should do good things because they are good, not because I will get rewarded with an eternal afterlife, infact I'm pretty happy with the fact that I'm totally gone when I'm dead, I don't need an eternal afterlife, believing in an afterlife is just for people who are scared of the dark (nothing wrong with that, pretty understandable even).
Religion never ever brought good morals to a society, commen sense and rationality did that, religion just happend to copy those.

I think he is taking about the MTV channel, It used to be only music videos, now it is all just reality crap. Then they made VH1 which was all music, and that is turning into all reality crap too.

Oh yeah I guess that makes sense. I still don't see why it would kill music videos though, because YouTube has probably made them more important than ever.

I doubt that many actually know what BBS even is anymore.
But yeah. I've ran one, and was so excited every morning after I got up to have all the new fido net mails in the BBS, and saw there were 3 people online in my BBS at the same time. It freaked me out in excitement. 3 lines at the same time, and all were used... Amazing. Tech revolution right there. lol

MTV Music channel with vids all day long still exists.
Both have them on a separate tier tho, which costs just more sub fees, regardless of cable or sat.
Same goes with VH1. And with that they are even smarter, VH1 classic is buried another tier deeper, since it's usually targeting the older generations, the ones with more money to spend on fond memories.

I've often thought how easy the flow of information and disinformation is these days. When I was a young, if you wanted to know something you either asked someone or looked it up in an encyclopedia if you had a set.

Same with music. If you could afford to buy albums on a regular basis, wasn't really an issue. But most people aren't audiophiles. So if you didn't own the album or single, what a feeling you felt when that song finally aired again on the radio. Awesome. And some people would have a blank tape ready to record for that moment.

Movies and TV shows were the same. Now it's just so easy to find what you want. I mean, yeah I'm glad for the ease. But I wonder sometimes if that makes it all less precious? I don't know.

Oh and yes, I realize you older folks (40+) were amazed at cassettes, VCRs, etc.. lol.

Widely respected news anchors that speak to their audience like intelligent human beings.

What I would give to be able to tune in to a Murrow or Cronkite of the current era... no one comes close. The infotainment machine is too powerful, spewing polarizing crap that reinforces your own views instead of making you think about what's actually happening.

Music videos are not dead, especially when the music and concept speaks so loudly:

From common sense. Religion is not necessary for morality. Moral codes are developed through society and common sense. I don't not kill people because god tells me not to; I don't kill me because society and my common sense tells me its wrong.

Humans have a sense of morality developed through evolution. We instinctively have a base moral code that kept us from tearing each other apart and ensured we cared for our tribe in our hunter-gatherer days. Why do you think every civilization developed some moral code and wrapped their religion around it?

Our society has developed to the point where most people can decide between right and wrong without having to resort to religion or government.

I am an atheist, I do not resort to government or Hollywood for my moral code. I simply use my common sense and reason.
