Truly original creativity is impossible. We all take inspiration from something. The ancient cultures looked to nature for their mythology, many fantasy writers then looked to that mythology or modern religion, including Tolkien, who then began the modern fantasy era, which is basically inspired a good deal by Tolkien's work.
A ripoff would be taking something and just painting it another color to call it something else. Having something similar (like orcs that are green, just as a very base example) isn't necessarily a ripoff. A lot goes into creating these things, and it is only really when almost everything's the same that it is a ripoff.
