It comes from OUTSIDE the game. Questing (I leveled pre-revamp) taught me the very basics, but to maximize my performance I went outside the game to guides and old-timers.
This whole obsession with "simplifying" is just silly. You think old, outdated mechanics are fun? I don't. I'm very happy that WoW has gone the direction it has, since if it still had TBC difficulty mechanics in every single way, it'd be so dead boring by now.
Why people want Classic back; In Classic, you'd be considered a winner and a "hardcore" simply by reaching max level, having a few pieces epic gear and being able to stand the horrible logistics demands.
Today, you need actual gameplay skills to get somewhere worth mentioning. So much class theorycrafting, awareness of both your class mechanics as well as those of other players/hardest tuned bosses aimed at only 1% downing them whilst they're current.
Not quite sure where you think the guides and old timers got their knowledge from other than experience in game to enable you to get your impressive performance.
If only MOP mats were relevant then a big portion of the AH would dry up.
Cloth is easy to farm as a 90. Its hardest for absolute new players with no other 90s and gold pool to fall back on.
BS is easy except for one pinch point which is TBC mats, but not that hard really.
One good thing they did was to give experience for farming mats. A bit of forward planning and you can collect the mats as you go along.
Agree with 999.. people who want things streamlined ruin the flavor of the game in the name of saving a little time.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.Man is not free unless government is limited.
Skinning is just too unrewarding and deserves a buff.
There is no point to cockblock professions, therefore blizzard should make them require less mats at lower skill levels.
Also increase gathering nodes in all outland zones, there are just too few ore deposits and herbs.
I'm all in for a reducing in the mats requirements! I've been the whole time.
I believe Blizz should:
1) Make prof leveling easier. 1800 Frostweave cloth, are you kidding me? You can never get that much cloth while you level, even with cloth gathering-whatever the tailors have. Having 4 or so alts in the Northrend range, I'm still far from done, and if you're to buy 1800 Frostweave with a price of 50g each stack... I don't mind having to pay a little to level up a profession, but those prices are just insane
2) A return to specialisations. I'm not usually the one advocating a return to the old ways, but I really liked the uniqueness the different specialisations had to them and also the hunt to find the trainers. Well, hunt and hunt, but it was indeed fun to come across one LW trainer in STV,and I knew I'd remember him if I ever needed to see him. It made for a small goal to work towards and felt rewarding once you had your gear. Nowadays professions are just about min-maxing and few rewards outside save for engi, so I've not even gotten any prof to 600 because as a non-raider and a failure at money-making, profs matter fuck all for me. Yes, yes, I get a little stat boost, which could be good for pvp (which I do), but it's not worth thousands of gold.
As for new professions, I don't really know. I feel they've covered everything. Maybe runeforging or whatever, give your armour and weapons a special glow. I for one like green, so it'd be pretty sweet dualwielding green daggers. Maybe some special pattern on your cloak/gear, pimp your mount. Dark drake with a red glow to it, that'd be nice You know, just spice up colours.
Words I hate: squishy, boomer, drood
