These are the results I got from the test. The questions are US oriented, I would place myself a bit closer to the center.

Socially liberal, fiscally responsible (conservative), which is the classic US republican "conservative" before the 80's. The modern GOP is closer to fiscally retarded than fiscally conservative.

Pretty much the same as the Newfoundlander, not that I am particularly surprised.

I would say that most people in Canada, aside from possibly Alberta fall right around that marker.

Some of the questions seem to only fit Americans though. The questions on same-sex and religion just seem like things that won't be issues around the world in another few decades (at least that's how I feel it's trending). So really in all honesty I think we would be a bit closer to the overall middle of that whole political spectrum if anything, if you removed a lot of the questions that Canadians don't really well, question.

    Economically Conservative.

Liberal everything-else save for a few matters here and there such as the judicial systems which is currently in the UK at least, revoltingly lenient.

Yeah, doing that quiz got me around the same spot as well, but I agree that it seems to be putting us a bit TOO left.

So many loaded questions in that quiz. And some that aren't even relevant to political orientation.

I feel it puts me too far to the left, not sure if it's the crappiness of the questions or the fact it's American.

Left (?) liberal I guess. I've not much faith in ideologies or in anything changing much, I'm happy that we have less of the repugnant hypocritical social conservatism that seems to have been stirring up in the USA, not so happy about authoritarianism, banning of protests and increased surveillance.

    Seems pretty accurate:

Interesting how much things can change in a few years but I suppose it is as old Winston of Churchill supposedly said; "If you are not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you are not Conservative by 40, you have no brain."

I say supposedly because he'd been a Conservative at 15, a Liberal at 35 and a Conservative again at 48, but it seems after a bit of ping-pong his statement ultimately proved true.

I'm more 'liberal' to same-sex marriage, women's rights etc. than the, I assume, average american.
I'd place myself a little bit into the authoritarian side instead.

Probably because when he was young he wanted shit changed - then he got older and in government and got shit changed to what he wanted. Then when new people wanted to change his shit he wanted the shit to stay the same.

Wasn't it coined by a french dude? Pretty accurate either way! Always liked it

We got a similiar saying/version here, "if you aint a socialist at age 20 you got no heart, if you are not a capitalist by age 40 you got no brain"

I've always wondered if this apparent change over time is more because people 'stop', in the sense that the issues you choose to take sides on, get settled, and the world moves on to new ones. Keep in mind, this is just a hypothesis, I got nothing other than some random time thinking about it to back the idea up.

    Edit:

Basically the same idea as Catta had a few posts up.
