    liberal, conservative, indifferent?

I'm wondering about the culture of a few different, but overlapping communities. I know there is something a little vague about the liberal conservative continuum, but most people generally know what I'm talking about.

Firstly, are the majority of MMO players politically liberal or conservative?

what about the general gaming community (including console)?

and what about the MMO-champion community?

    and why?

Overall more liberal, due to the age group associated with it and the fact that countries around the world are becoming more and more socially liberal.

When in doubt, I usually refer to the US standards. According to my country, I'm a member of our centrist political group (United Russia), but I'm firmly liberal from a US perspective.

Ditto. How one can be a commie liberal is still beyond me though.

At home and in Europe I would be a liberal, in the USA I would be a communist.

Its fucked up that the USA changed the meaning of Liberalism, it doesnt fit with the rest of the world.

Because some people (Like everyone in my family except me) equate liberal with socialist. The things I hear my family say.....gah. According to them, every democrat is a socialist, and Obama is a socialist commie. Myself, I'm actually firmly liberal, but my family doesn't know that, and they don't need to know that for as long as possible.

I burst out laughing when I visited the U.S and realized that liberal was a derogatory term like 10 years ago.

In Canada I would be a liberal, in the U.S I would probably be Joseph Stalin.

I can understand people having different points of view, but at least where I am from liberal means neither left nor right of center. How does that equate to being a communist?

Anyways most young people around the world are liberal in views, at least socially speaking. Most young people game, therefore I would wager that most of these people on these boards are going to be liberal. Hardly anybody here from another country would be the U.S definition of conservative, and I actually doubt there are that many that are the U.S definition of liberal either. Socially speaking (whether people like it or not) we are headed in a direction where people are going to universally be treated more as equals, and that means longstanding cultural/religious restrictions are going away.

It makes me laugh when people call gun control advocates "liberals", That is the exact opposite of the meaning of the word. Liberals want MORE freedom, taking away freedom is against what they stand for.

Indeed, sadly the word "liberal" has been grossly twisted in the U.S. Leading to it becoming a very derogatory term especially when used by a conservative talking about someone.

And speaking of guns, living in the country as I do now (which sucks, since I don't like living in the country, but my dad just had to have his 2.5 acres of land and a tractor) I hear gunshots every day, just pop pop pop neighbors, or others hunting or just shooting cans in their backyards.

I'm leaning conservative (UK) so in the US that would make me a Democrat or something.

I'm socially liberal for the most part. Which means I vote center-right, I'm supportive of universal healthcare systems and social security/safety nets, a free market, ease of doing business, freedom of choice, equality be it sexual orientation, gender equality, ethnicity etc.

I'm kind of right wing on a couple of issues at times though, like conflict interventions, sometimes it's needed.
Shit like this actually goes through your fucking brain?
