A Karazhan chess event style meets battleground version of a Warcraft 2 map!

    Need many peons and peasants.

    really doubt this somehow

When discussing possible future CoT raids the first thing that comes to my head is Tomb of Sargeras (either following Gul'dan or Maiev). I would see that fitting for the Legion focused expansion that is still waiting for us.

I believe the first one was somewhat covered by a questline in Icecrown where you play as Arthas and fight Illidan in front of ICC. I never did the quest myself, so can't go into that in more details. The other two, however, I would definitely like to see.

Sadly none of these currently fit the theme of the expansion
Ok i see, well Arthas went there on himself eventually, being there with a full grp of heroes doesn't realy make sense.
    With mannoroth's lair same issue.

Your second option is something that makes sense and sounds fun at the same time.

Didn't Thrall escape Durnholde by himself, with some help from Taretha? The Blizz solution was that we help them, and then the Bronze Drake erases their memory.

Although, on second thought, both Arthas and Thrall may be too strong at the Frozen Throne and Mannoroth's Lair to be effected by the spell.

Yep, we need Warcraft 1&2 CoTs!!!

I would love to have one of Blackrock Spire. A shame they retconned the death of Lothar to somehow make Doomhammer a passable Warchief. But instead we should get one of the finale of the WC2 expansion. Would be a nice one to introduce Alleria and Turalyion to the playerbase that only played Warcraft 3 and don't know anything about them.

You guys aren't thinking next expac problems. Of course The Siege will have to be in COT - it doesn't matter that it isn't past events. We did DS in COT - because the "real" location is already taken, and being used. They wouldn't sacrifice Org to make it a perpetual raid. Just imagine the whining from hordies if that happened. It therefore has to become a scenario (which wont happen, seeing as it's an actual raid) or a COT raid.

Oh, that questline is given by the creepy kid that may or may not be Arthas' childhood and purity coming through. But it was pretty epic. And somewhat chilling.

Does anyone else miss how awesomely blizzard made Arthas? You saw him about once or twice per zone, in some epic storyline that showed you WHY we had to fight this guy, and how powerful he was. He was a real threat. I felt like DW kinda lacked that. I mean, he was something that had to be stopped.. but I dunno, I just didn't feel it in the same way I felt Arthas.

That and Arthas just wanted to fuck with us. He wanted us to come to him, and prove our worth. He toys with us and flat out says he will. There was no reason for DW to hold out on his attacks on us.. but for some reason he decides to? I dunno.

I kinda want the caverns of time to f- off for an expansion to be perfectly honest...

I'm a little sick of hopping through the time stream like it ain't no thing to clean up messes we know are already going to go either south or succeed.

Keep to the present for now. We'll see where we go after this.
I have eaten all the popcorn, I left none for anyone else.

    Stromgarde past.
Or a WHOLE new zone in the past. That'd be awesome.

Unless I'm mistaken there will be no more instances within CoT as the aspects in our timeline are powerless.

They still have their powers, just not as strong as before. Noz just can't be omniscient anymore being aware of all the timelines and all that. Though how one can handle that is beyond my comprehension.

The only reason we used CoT was because he sensed disturbances caused by the infinite flight in the previous timelines. I once again believe we won't be visiting other timelines if he doesn't know there is a problem in them.

Yeah, doesn't mean Timewalkers or whatever can still make sure the timeline is secure.

I would have liked to see the war of the Ancients where we get to control some of the Ancients like Tortella, Goldrin ,Aviana, and Malorne.

I guess a Pandaren/Mogu/Klaxxi CoT would be kinda cool.

Basically almost any RTS mission from the previous WC games could be a CoT instance.

My opinion is they'll either open up a sub-level to the cavern with future events that would be too clumsy to add to the real Azerothian location (such as the siege of Orgrimmar), they'll stop using it for new instances but rather add some gimmicky small content - like for example lore-driven scenarios, to explain the new (or even past) events that didnt make it to the game or were restricted to the books only - to be played as a past time or for people who really want to learn more about wow, or even turn the page on it completely, and let it remain a token from past expansions.

The bronze dragonflight does still have some power. There is a bronze dragon which lets you access the past in Theramore before the mana bomb destroys it.

Hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure they encountered him in Demon Fall Canyon which is in South-East Ashenvale. They were walking through it and he "ambushed them."
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

Reposting this, since the Fall of Quel'Thalas is still something that would be amazing in CoT form:

    Quote Originally Posted by Zaelsino
Caverns of Time: The Fall of Quel'Thalas.

Premise: Congratulations soldier! You're now a nameless, faceless skeleton mook in the undead army of the Scourge. Being little more than cannon fodder for our glorious leader, King Arthas, it's up to you and your four equally mind raped friends to do his bidding and ensure Quel'Thals falls. Have fun!

Goal: Lay waste to the high home of the elves, and pave the way for King Arthas Menethil to reach the Sunwell. Kill anyone who stands in the way.

    Act one: Breaking and Entering.

Objective: Kill a lot of trash (Farstriders and warriors), get used to the "skeleton illusion," and fight your way through southern Quel'Thalas (southern Ghostlands looking less dead, basically) and sneak past the bulk of the quel'dorei military. Pull enemies towards Thassarian and our undead allies if you feel overwhelmed; fight your way through the forest to An'owyn with Thass, while Arthas crashes through the Elfgates.

<generic trash battles; party reaches An'owyn>

Boss encounter one: Koltira, Faltora and Merriel.
Objective: Help Thassarian mow down three of Quel'Thalas' most irritating defenders.

Simple enough first encounter: Koltira and Faltora are the warriors (arms and fury respectively); for the sake of diversity, let's say Merriel is a mage. They'll try to keep Thass CC'd long enough to gib players (circle of frosting him; deep freezing one person and relying on a double bladestorm), but pretty weak. Kill off Merriel first, then bring Faltora low, then bring Koltira low, then finish them both off in rapid succession to avoid a soft enrage. Cue roleplay event where the Scourge zerg rushes Ano'wyn, kills off Faltora and Merriel, and Koltira runs for it. Good job.

    Act two: Ranger General's Downfall.

Objective: Turns out Arthas schooled the first two Elfgates, and only one remains. Link back up with the main body (including a fun scene where the party hops over the body pit Arthas built to bypass one of the other gates), and take down a load of rangers along the way. They're a little tougher now, and the odd mage is thrown in for good measure. Essentially, kill off a few waves (dragonhawk riders also coming into the fray) until Dar'Khan Drathir produces the Key of Three Moons, then rush through like the gaggle of undead monsters you are. Slight problem, though... Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner is proving a nuisance, and Arthas wants her dead. Fortunately, he soon corners his prey.

    Boss encounter two: Sylvanas Windrunner.
Objective: Kill off any elves who interfere with Arthas and Sylvanas's duel. Arthas will, unimpeded, kill her, but letting enough mobs wail on him too can even the scales a bit. Victory happens when Arthas slabs her.

Essentially a wave fight a la Mount Hyjal: after four or five waves are down, a named Farstrider commander jumps into the fray with his or her own abilities. For the sake of a nice tie in, let's say they're the following two: Ranger Verana, who dies after cursing you with her last breath, and Vereesa Windrunner, who manages to escape into the forests as the tide turns. In the end, the waves are down, and at this point Sylvanas should be almost dead. She becomes attackable, though won't attack anyone other than Arthas; dies. Cue roleplay event; Arthas sires her as a banshee.

Act three: The Siege of Silvermoon.

Objective: Escort Dar'Khan Drathir through the ruins of Silvermoon City, and evade the very pissed off ranger corps.

Whole act is essentially a mini boss fight. Captains Lor'themar Theron and Halduron Brightwing are your antagonists, arranging all sorts of ambushes, guerrilla warfare and sniping attempts as you escort Dar'Khan through Silvermoon. If he dies, the two jump you with a hard enrage -- wipe. Cue some scenery porn of Silvermoon burning and civilians dying left and right, Dar'Khan casually strolling through the waning capital making "who's laughing now?" snarks as Theron and Brightwing try to assassinate him.

It ends as you approach the final roadblock within Silvermoon, and Dar'Khan proves his worth by leveling it with his magic. Thalorien Dawnseeker spawns; we all zerg rush him like we saw in the Quel'Delar chain. Arthas and the bulk of the Scourge arrive; Theron and Brightwing fly off to Quel'Danas on their dragonhawks. Cue roleplay event; Banshee!Sylvanas mocks Arthas about the ocean, so he says "lolno" and makes the path of frost. Onwards!

Final act: Anasterian's Last Dance; The Sunwell Falls.

    Objective: RAZE THE SUNWELL.

You reach the Isle along with the rest of the Scourge... and only an elderly man is left to stop you. He blows up your bridge in seconds and Dar'Khan cowers like a bitch, though -- contrary to history -- King Anasterian Sunstrider teleports out of the fray before Arthas can kill him, with the help of an Infinite Dragonflight agent taking elven form. Arthas instead charges the Sunwell; enter the final act: fighting your way through the magisters to King Anasterian in a phased area of the Sunwell Plateau. Mini boss before Anasterian is the Inifinite agent; he sheds his disguise and the Lich King's champion promptly curb stomps him with Frostmourne.

Final boss encounter: King Anasterian Sunstrider.

The main man himself, now fully garbed up in golden Sunwell gear. Felo'melorn in hand and a staff in the other; invincible to all forms of damage. Royal Guards file in to aid the king (blue-eyed versions of the SMC guards), but it's mostly for show. Arthas tanks Anasterian while we noble skeletons run around shanking the high elven magisters empowering him around the Sunwell, weakening him piece by piece. It's game over for him when the last magister falls... or so we think; he gets a soft enrage and mixes all sorts of aggressive magic with swift sword strikes, knocking Arthas back. We take over the fight and kill him for our dark master.

Sylvanas cries out in anguish as we all receive our justice/valor points. Cue roleplay event; Arthas defiles the Sunwell and Kel'Thuzad is reborn. Thassarian and an undead Koltira arrive to observe the destroyed well; the Scourge forces prepare to leave. We're all feeling a bit needlessly cruel until Arthas loses patience with Dar'Khan's evil gloating and cuts him down too.
