Paparazzo killed after trying to take pic of Bieber

Who is to blame, REALLY, for the death of this guy? His self? OR is it society to blame making him feel he has to take pictures of celebrities in order to feed the public's need of gossip?

I, for one, am disgusted that people care so much about celebrities that people will risk their lives to take a photograph of them even if it puts them in danger.

I wish people would stop caring what their favorite music artists, film celebrities, and other artists do when they're not in a movie or on stage.

    ------------------

Paparazzi have had nasty run-ins with pop star Justin Bieber, including a high-speed chase in July that prompted a city councilman to predict that such an encounter could end tragically.

    It happened Tuesday.

A photographer, who thought he spied Bieber sitting in his parked white Ferrari, was struck and killed by oncoming traffic as he walked across a Los Angeles freeway to get back to his car after snapping photos.

An opportune picture of the 18-year-old celebrity can rake in hard currency -- but Bieber was not in the car at the time of the New Year's Day incident.

California Highway Patrol officers had pulled over Bieber's vehicle Tuesday evening at an off-ramp of Interstate 405.
The photographer spotted the sports car, parked his own vehicle across the street, crossed to get closer to Bieber's car and took photos of its occupants, said Los Angeles Police spokesman James Stoughton.

Officers told the man twice to return to his car, CNN affiliate KTLA reported.

A car struck the paparazzo as he crossed back across the street to leave, Stoughton said.

Authorities have not released his name.

"While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim," Bieber said in a statement. "Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."

The dude was not paying attention to traffic. That's it. It was his own fault.

Society is at as much fault as cell phones are for making idiots cross the street against the light because they're too busy texting: none at all.

IDK maybe the guy who hit him is to blame.

I'm sorry but you're being incredibly naive if you think society is at fault, or anyone in fact other than the guy.

You're in no more danger taking a picture of a celebrity than you are operating heavy machinery in a car manufacturing warehouse.

No one forced him to be a photographer or photographic journalist. If he wants to be one of those annoying people that harass celebrities then that's on him.

Personally if I had people getting in my face with a camera then I'd smash the thing, but I suppose it's to be expected when you're famous.

Does anyone else feel that even if it is his fault, it's a sad time we live in when people care so much about celebrities? Who cares what people who star in movies do in real life? Why does anyone care?!?

I do think in the end though it is his fault for making a stupid choice, but the element of society does exist, you can't deny that.

Do we have to ask that question?

I've seen it on the news. The cop told him twice to get back and out of the street. Tragic, but his own fault. No need to turn it into an ethic discussion.

One could argue tho if "Karma is a bitch" would be a valid comment.
Paparazzi causing a lot of harm. More harm than good even.
But I heard that particular guy was apparently some young dude who seemed to be different and rather respectful to the celebs.

This weeks Darwin award goes to...

No one is to blame but the photographer himself, I feel sorry for the poor driver of the car. No doubt he is now traumatized from the accident.

    Entirely his own fault.

First rule of being a pedestrian, don't play chicken with a car.

    Let's edit the story slightly:

A pisstaker, who thought he spied the perfect place to take a piss, was struck and killed by oncoming traffic as he walked across a Los Angeles freeway to get back to his car after taking a piss.

An opportune spot to take a piss in can rake in hard currency -- but the spot was already being used at the time of the incident.

California Highway Patrol officers had pulled down their pants Tuesday evening at an off-ramp of Interstate 405.
The pisstaker spotted the spot, parked his own vehicle across the street, crossed to get closer to the spot and took a piss there, said Los Angeles Police spokesman James Stoughton.

"Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the pisstakers themselves."
About the same level of relevance as the original story, at any rate.

Let me get this straight, a freeway, walking, if I'm thinking about this correctly it's the same as a motorway, where cars are traveling at high speed, right!?

"he was struck and killed by oncoming traffic as he walked across a Los Angeles freeway"

100% his fault and has nothing to do with Justin Biber.

Papparazzo are pretty much scum but they have a huge market but it's still you're responsibility to not get hit in most cases.

I will add the news article at a news site I first saw I misread it as: "Papparazzo kills taking shot at beibers car".

I really have a hard time feeling sorry for paparazzis. I think I'd rather date a porn star than a paparazzi or gossip columnist. At least the porn star is only hurting herself. I think if I found myself on a date with a paparazzi or gossip columnist, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from asking, from sheer curiosity, "So please, can you justify to me, based on your career choice, how you're anything but a terrible human being?"
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

So if I walk in front of oncoming traffic on a freeway, the guy driving the car that inevitably hits me is to blame?

That's a new and exciting opinion.
