    Soda or Pop?

Hey guys, so i'm from New York and everyone here calls soda "soda." I was talking to my cousin from Minnesota on the phone and i don't remember how it got brought up but he said something to the effect of "let me go grab a pop." I knew they called soda a different name in Europe but not the U.S. So i'm wondering do you call it "Soda or "Pop" or something else entirely?

I generally go back and forth on it. I have no particular attachment either way.

I think it's an American thing to call it soda :P

I just call it what I'm drinking..."Coke", "Pepsi", "Dr. Pepper", etc.

"What do you like to drink?"

lol idk, I can't think of any specific time I would say "soda" or "pop" though I'd probably be more inclined to say "pop."

    Hahaha

Always called it soda, I saw quite a few people call them lemonade though. They know it's not correct, but they don't care.

I would be so confused. Like a waitress asks "What kinda of coke do you want" I'd be like "uhhh cherry?"

I call it soda. The only time I use the word pop is when I say "I'm going to pop you in the mouth if you call it pop again". See what I did there?

I call it soda, personally, but have been familiar with the term 'pop' since well...forever. I mean the shit is *called* soda so to me it kind of makes sense.

That said I usually just say "Coke" because it's easier and sounds less pretentious...even if they're just serving me a Pepsi.

"Beverage", or "Hot Beverage" if the occasion called for it.

In Australia its mostly "Soft Drink" or just the brand name. Occasionally you might hear "Fizzy drink" too, but its mostly used by kids.

As far as I'm aware, no one calls it soda or pop here.

A lot of people in Canada call it "pop", but I honestly say both.
