Time and again I fail to see how people can be so blind and complain about all those bonus loot chances they are given today.

You know, before an LFR tool was introduced there was literally no other source for items than 5-man heroics, valor vendors and maybe a PvP boss once a week. You should consider LFR and bonus roll a mere chance to get more; it is and was never meant as a way to gear up quickly, thus the high RNG factor. If you get nothing or end up having the same piece handed to you three or four times then it is fine, since you know you used the chance and just weren't lucky enough. Stuff happens. The real game takes place in normal and heroic mode raids anyway.

You have the same basic chance you would have in a normal raid....you just don't see the math only the outcome. I personally think their should be no loot from LFR it is there to see the content.

As much as I curse the loot gods I'm pretty sure the RNG won't be removed.
The slack however... well who knows - it's too quick to be player based imho.

I can see a few problems with what you suggest.

The first and biggest issue is that the people that are complaining about the current RNG of LFR would still be complaining about the RNG of LFR with this new system. You might think you wouldn't, but I'd be willing to bet a whole heap of money you and plenty more people would be.

You are thinking about the "issue" selfishly. LFR for a particular tier needs a lifespan. It needs to be gated in the same way that normals and heroic raids are, which is done with the once per week limit and the RNG of loot drops. If anything it probably needs to have a longer lifespan than normals and heroic raids since the whole concept of LFR is that it is for the player who doesn't have the time or the inclination to raid any of the higher difficulties. These types of player aren't necessarily going to be at max level as soon as LFR is available. They can hit max level at any point during the first couple of months, or possibly even longer. And when they do hit max level they need other people to be running LFR too.

I think the true problem with LFR is missed, glossed over or detracted from by people crying over RNG. The true problem is AFKing. It really shouldn't be too difficult to implement something to either completely stop, or severely punish the people doing it. I'm not going to offer any suggestions as to how that should be achieved, that is hopefully something Blizzard is already working on.

Mudor the asshat didn't take long to get to this thread. Please go back to being banned. Anyway on topic. I don't see the point in these threads. There is nothing wrong with the loot the way it is now. You have the same chance at a drop you have had for the last 8 years.

To be fair i don't understand what the hell was wrong with the old lfr loot tool in cata, where you could roll on the gear that you actually need, besides the obvious that people who didn't need the gear or need OS over MS just rolled so they could piss off other people. I would much rather take my chances with that system than this current one. Where the game decides everything.

I joined mop late and have been doing lfr for about 4 weeks now and 3 of those week i've got loot, from the same boss the same god damn bracers, the first one was enough for me and the second and third could have gone to someone else who actually needed them, instead game has offered me 3 of them and nothing else. At least with the old system i could have said no thanks, not everyone wants to lfr around just to bully and piss others off. People acting like jackasses are a minority thankfully, so maybe the MS/OS issue was the real reason to move to this new system, but this definately doesn't solve that. It actually doesn't solve any of the issues in the cata LFR, except that you can't whine about someone who pressed need just to piss you off.

Yes bosses in normal and hc drop same items week after week and that's rng, but at least they get to assign who gets what with 3rd party dkp or roll on what's needed by specific player. Lfr is indeed a nice way to see the game for people who don't have the time to do normal or hc, anymore. I did my share of hc raiding for 2-3 years straight, on top level and that meant in school or unemployed, play 16 hours a day 7 days a week. Just got tired of that since i actually wanted to do that same thing in 2 days. Since the world pretty much has around propably 50 guilds that can do the entire current content in a time frame i would prefer. Which would be heroic current content cleared in 2 days, the rest struggle hc or even normal and raid 4-5 days a week to get all cleared or progress, it just wasn't worth it to waste the time on 3-5 extra days. I would gladly be doing 40-man heroic modes if one realm could hold 40 players who are able to clear with a pace and not stand around in every fire patch "ooh so shiny i must see if it kills me so we take hours to take one boss down". Cause for me raiding is still a group effort, 10-man is just heroic dungeon. 25 man is the best the game offers, but it's still not the same effort as to coordinate 40 people to do something, which would be the real challenge, not the boss or the mechanics, the coordination. Not just one raid leader yelling "don't stand in the fire".

It's not about being elitist, it's about getting things done, cause they aren't that hard to begin with. The easier the game gets the more people seem to need to be handheld and guided or just blame it on slacking cause it's so easy. Well guess what it's easy cause people want it to be easy, otherwise we would still be doing 40-man naxx right now and wondering how to get past 4 horse man, cause we don't have enough attuned people.

    AND to gear up.

Seriously - you don't have to do it if you don't like it. But you don't have to be so negative about it either.

As it is, the OP has a point. LFR gearing is very RNG. I don't think his solution would really work. I'd prefer, if this was a serious issue, to simply bring back the badge system.

Each boss drops 1 Badge/Emblem/Token. End boss drops more...say 3. Once you have enough tokens...you can buy a tier piece. All you'd need to do would be to balance the costs around whether you see this as a quick way to gain gear, or a way to make up for poor RNG.

Ppl cried up a storm about others rolling against them, not being able to kick afkers because loot was in progress, ppl rolling on gear to give to others and a few other loot exploits ppl did. After months of public crying the vocal ppl got their way and they changed the loot system. The best part is the same ppl at least on here are crying just as much now that it didn't need to be changed.

It's actually the exact opposite. All the fights are dumbed down to the point of them being faceroll, nobody ever considered Vault of Archavon "content" and the fights are almost nothing like even the normal mode fights. They're there for loot and only loot so you can start doing real raiding.

id be happy if when ur about to win a duplicate item you get the option of a FREE reroll you can either get gold or a item you don;t already have its annoying when i win a duplicate item and it isn't even worth whats in the bag and i can even disenchant the items unless im on my monk (my enchanter)

id be happy with this or EVERY item being worth atleast 28 g 50

Even with a system like the one i stated in place, there would still be a level of rng as to whether or not you were selected in the first place.
The current LFR loot system has no more RNG than the old loot system did. The only difference is that you are not rolling against anyone else now. You still had the RNG of "Did the boss drop the item I need?" You suggestion would actually make it vastly easier to get geared, by removing one of the random aspects that has always existed in the past. Also, there are far more efficient ways to allow for off-spec gear.
All this complaining is simply further proof that Blizzard could send each and every player a real-life wish-granting flying unicorn carrying a solid gold plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in hundred dollar bills, and someone would whine that Blizzard sucks for not letting them choose oatmeal raisin.

Complaining about RNG in LFR is like complaining about not winning the jackpot every time you walk into a casino.

Except the odds of winning the jackpot in a casino are astronomically less favorable than winning a piece of loot in a raid.

while we are at it lets just put a vendor at the entrance of every raid that can sell all the gear in the raids loot tables, and instead of you giving gold for each piece it gives YOU gold with the gear for its enchants and gems! ./end sarcasm
