    Blizzard composer Jason Hayes

Jason Hayes worked at Blizzard in wc3, original wow and tbc times. He made most of the wc3 and original wow's outdoor tunes like elwynn forest, burning steppes, stormwind themes. He's now working at Valve and has made the new Dota 2 soundtrack. Blizzard should definitely hire this fella back! Just listen to Dota 2 soundtrack, this fella knows how to make music for fantasy games. This is only my opinion, but what do you people think, does this fella still knows how to make music and should blizzard hire him back to make music for wow again?

Edit. As of June 2012 he's back at Blizzard. Source: http://www.musicbyjason.com/forum/in...p?topic=1091.0

Here is some new tracks he had made for patch 5.1

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ThnpGLgpoA - Alliance Battle march
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boSGPUGpJ94 - Garrosh

All tracks are composed by Jason Hayes except "For the Alliance" which is done by Hayes and Brower

Because he has made many of the core tunes of wow like stormwind theme and many outdoor themes for wow that are still in use.

He is no longer with blizzard, and you linked Dota2 music. Doesn't fit in wow general discussion.

I dunno. I don't have any issue with their current music, either, so I don't see a reason to go back.

Yeah the current music of wow is good and all, I dont know if im delusional but his music style (imo) is pretty unique and added unique touch to wows music, just listen to this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh1pFGBnR-w it's just sounds so right.

I have not been disappointed with the music department for this game since its release and I am not going to start now.

Still, he did do some nice pieces for the game, so it is a shame that he does not work at Blizzard, anymore.

Indeed, some might know this piece also what he composed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efvdu1OcoII

I'm just fine with the move to the new music team.

Hayes did some good stuff, but I always felt that the new team produced much more moving soundtracks than Hayes.

This is cool, it reminds me of a brand new song from Vanilla.

WOW still has amazing music, but what I liked better about Vanilla's music was it had a bit less structure to it and more ambiance, so you wouldn't get tired of it as quickly as you do with a lot of WOW's music from the last few expansions. It doesn't matter how good the song is at first, when they have really defined melodies and structure they don't work as well to have playing for hours on end every day. I loved Pandaria's music but after a few months of it I'm starting to get desperate for anything new or seldom heard in the game music wise.

His DOTA2 music sounds nice. I've been meaning to check that out with my beta invite, unless the game is out by now.

It's like the music is less intruding and sounds like it fits perfectly.

wow, no wonder the music on the dota 2 screen has such a nostalgic feeling to it

    Wow, that was epic.

Yea, I can believe that that is his work.

You can hear some of the ashenvale music in there! It has that mysterious vibe to it.

Well some of you may find this interesting. I'm not sure how I knew this and the collected wisdom of MMO-C didn't.
Hi guys, long time no talk I just wanted to let you know that I've just returned to Blizzard, and I'm thrilled about it! Thanks for all your support.

Apparently, he's been back at Blizzard since late June.

Yeah, me too actually. Since the music group at Blizzard tends to work on everything, I'm guessing that it's possible that he'll have some stuff in WoW, the next SCII expansion, and like everyone else there in their Arts departments (speaking generically), is probably busy with stuff for whatever Titan is.

I've always enjoyed his work the most out of the various artists that have worked on WoW. That's hardly a putdown on the others as I enjoy all the soundtracks, but his has had a certain feel. Somehow it's sounded the most Warcraft-y, understatedly epic. The previously mentioned Jaina tracks in 5.1 are amazing.
