When it comes to professional grade items it becomes a different beast completely now you are talking about people's careers lives etc. Lets say a Pixar 3D artist is trying to make a new movie in a timely fashion before the technology is completely outdated, he or she would need something with an assload of raw power, but being an artist it must be of refined qualities on every input and output as well. Seeing a full range of colors can be an entire new idea or thought in an artists mind, and being able to put it on the screen according to your idea is ideal.
im not really sure what you are saying, you started off on an attempt to describe different types of computer users, and then just went off on a tangent that makes no sense

i disagree with the "bench and burn/lack of concern" aspect of enthusiasts, many use a mix of high grade gaming hardware and enterprise hardware for a reason, reliability is foremost important to an enthusiast, nobody likes a $10k computer that bluescreens every other day, and that translates to cards like the Ares and Mars, i think the limited production is less to keep it special, but because if they made 10,000 of them, they would never sell all of them, a limited run of 1000 ensures that collectors buy all of them before news of instability or poor support become widespread

    Absolutely gorgeous.

Too bad it will end up coming in a cardboard box for consumers, no doubt. =/

Then again, a limit of 1,000 could mean they will use those... hmm...

The ARES didn't, so doubt it.

And truth be told, even in cardboard packaging, there's a surprisingly huge amount of variations in quality. HIS delivered a fantastic package, but I found Sapphire did a pretty meh job at it. EVGA wasn't bad, but have to admit that opening my first HD 7970 box was really impressive with all the soft foam and fancy shit they'd done.

The first Ares card came in a very similar box.

ASUS makes pretty packages, the package for my 580 was very nice and sturdy(the card didn't shake inside at all).

Apparently the "dogs brother" got stuck in the customs but should arrive soon.
I foresee a nice review in a couple of days.
