I agree that its a problem, but what's the solution? We force abortions/birth control/sterilization on people? We take their children away from them? We don't allow them to draw any assistance and let whatever happens happen? We buy a couple less fighter jets that we will probably never use and just accept it as the cost of living in a society?

I also know someone who does this. It's not fraud in the legal sense (I don't believe), but it definitely comes off as fraudulent to me.

We give benefits based on average numbers of children. If they want to shoot out a few more that's their problem. If they cannot take care of them then the state will take them away.

Pretty much this. I've seen posters on this board quit jobs because "they didn't like them". Well tough shit, you got to do what you can to get by.

You should probably google more information before standing up for worthless people. She is on welfare yet can afford $520 haircuts for herself? This is the reason people are pissed off. http://www.tmz.com/2012/04/25/octomo...owout-welfare/

Cases such as this are hardly the norm, so they're not really that big a deal. They're often twisted in a way that spreads misinformation and leads many other people to assume that anyone on welfare is a scrounger looking for quick cash and free handouts...which isn't the case. A few rotten apples exist to be sure, but they're not nearly as impacting on society as certain individuals and organisations would have you believe.

It's just more the classic 'divide and conquer' tactics spewed out to ensure that people are pointing the fingers somewhere other than at the true culprits behind the increasingly poor state of the western world at the moment.

Sure, but I don't see how getting a minimum wage job is going to help much. Especially if your unemployment benefits payed out more then your prospective minimum wage job...

Going from 75K to filpping burgers isn't exactly the best deal.

Excluding the physical pain and sometimes mental stress the jobs can produce depending on where you work. It isn't so black and white when *getting a job* and having to stick with it.

What kind of society? A totalitarian society would force "abortions/birth control/sterilization" a free society would allow them to continue to have kids and force the rest of free society to pay for it?

Funny how that doesnt work for alot of other things.

That is why we extended unemployment benefits. However, I seriously doubt this chick has ever worked an honest day's work in her life. Regardless, she could not afford her current number of children and went out for more. There is only so much that society can and should do for someone before telling them to go fuck themselves.

This lady uses these kids as tools. Plain and simple.

There aren't plenty of US babies to adopt. There are lots of US minors to adopt, but the vast majority of them are over the age of 5. Babies are in high demand, older children in much lower demand, and those who still want a US child are waiting years and paying terrifically high fees for the honor. Tens of thousands of dollars for a child that is very likely going to have some serious emotional, mental, or physical issues (whether due to genetics or the environments they were subjected to before finally landing with their adoptive parents), and all of the fees associated with treating those, never mind basic child care costs.

I'm not sure how I feel about a single parent with 14 kids getting welfare. I doubt they're getting the attention and care they need even WITH Mom getting welfare assistance. That taxpayers are paying for a mentally unstable woman to keep far too many children bothers me. I understand not wanting to abort children, but if you know you can't afford them prior to giving birth (or conceiving, in other situations), you probably shouldn't be allowed to keep them afterward. It's a terrible situation for those children.

"Think of the children, money is needed!" is a shitty excuse. "Think of the children" should be about the children themselves, not Mom's desire to keep them. Let her choose the families that get the kids if she'd like, perhaps let her remain part of their lives (I guess that'd be a condition of adoption, no?), but allowing her to keep all of the children herself doesn't seem like an acceptable situation to me. If she wasn't in her right mind when she elected to have just 1 or 2 more children, she's likely not in her right mind often when she's at home with 14 kids.

That's mostly a euphemism for the general sense of entitlement rampant since Gen X.

Oh, I know it's not, it's just annoying at family gatherings when they sit their and cry about money with their three kids running around screaming..oh and his mom pays his phone bills for the two of them (2 smart smart phones..not cheap!) and gives him rides to and from work (he lost his license).

No it really isn't. When you have variables that hinder you physically and unable to fill certain job roles at X amount of hours. It isn't about entitlement really. It varies from person to person, saying every person is entitled is a very bold and unfair accusation. Not everyone will be born physically capable of any job that is thrown at them, especially the hours.

Do we not have groups going out offering to pay these women to get their tubes tied? Seems like that would cost less in the long run.

no one needs 14 children, that's what I think

i don't think i want to know how someone accidentially has 14 children either, because i mean you don't just have 14 kids and it's all someone else's fault.

    14 children! FOURTEEN. FUCK.

Which is generally overblown. While there are legitimate disabilities, the victim mentality in today's culture is a large contributor.

IDK, I just have a hard time with people making 2x as much money as me crying because they're 'struggling'.

Maybe don't enslave yourself to debt, and you can sleep easier at night.

the comments really got me thinking. What the fuck is it with people? Because she gets something like $4,000 people are saying "see this is why there needs to be a welfare overhaul!"

She was on welfare, got off welfare, but as raising 14 kids is quite expensive, got back on it as she doesn't make enough money.
And she knew she wasn't going to have enough money to raise all those children before she gave birth to them, yet she had them knowing she could easily raise them on the taxpayers dollar.

And really considering just how reckless/thoughtless the bitch is what chance do you think their is that any of those children will grow up to be productive members of society.

Really kind of makes me sick that is is not within our judicial systems power to enforce abortion laws on welfare recipients to protect our own taxpayers.
And if your religion prohibits abortion it is your right to refuse to have one at the cost of losing the government aid.
