Indie Speed Run 2012/2013

Wanted to bring peoples attention to an event that happened recently that I think it pretty awesome and gives people the opportunity to play a ton of free games!

The Indie Speed Run is an event being run and judged by some popular and famous games developers and journalists, including Notch and Yahtzee. The event itself has a group of up to 4 people come together and create a game from scratch in 48 hours. The interesting part comes in where each team is given specific terms that must be incorporated into the game in some way. Winners are picked by each of the 7 judges carrying through their favourite titles, while the remaining 3 are picked by popular public vote.

The creation part finished earlier this week (7th of January) and now every game produced for this event has been hosted on the escapists website:

All these games are free, and should be highly entertaining. Be aware though that they were all made in 48 hours, so if you're expecting some amazingly polished 3D MMO FPS RPG RTS shoot and sneak em up you will be sorely disappointed. However because they are quite small, they are perfect for picking up and having a blast for ten minutes! All manner of genres are represented in the list, and there should be something for everyone.

I work for Celestial-Games we participated in this above mentioned Indie Speed Run 2012 twice.
Both Throne as well as Thunder Gnomes have multi-player with MMO features that we are developing further.
