    Crit and mastery

We all know crit is a terminating stat, thus the more you have the less power it has, but has anyone figured out at what point mastery overtakes crit. Or another way to put it is where is the effective crit cap before we hit the DR so bad its just better to shift to other stats?

I know in my gear i rock 35% crit raid buffed, which means my pet has a 45% crit chance in raids.

All I remember is someone saying we can't reach it yet. Even in DS when I had 50% crit I hadn't yet reached it, though the weighting has probably changed since then.

Most of the stuff in these blog posts is still relevant, seeing as hunters play very similarly to they did in cata, albeit with Expertise now.

Update: Check out Corwyn’s math in the comments. He did some playing on Zeherah’s spreadsheet to find where the magical ratio is, then calculated the balance. Upshot is you probably want to stack crit until you’re around 44% crit or so (and realistically probably more, since as your gear improves, you’ll end up with more mastery).

none of that stuff is close to correct because of how BM has changed. There is far more weight put on the pets now. Back in Cata a BM hutners pet did at most 30% of the hunters damage now they do up to 60%
