    [Anime] Recommend an Anime please.

Hello. Recently I have been extremely bored and it feels like I haven't done anything in a while. I have a very high interest in anime, it seems.

Anime List: (** animes I loved)

    Death Note **
    Claymore **
    Bleach (stopped after Aizen arc)
Naruto (stopped like 2 years ago)
    Dragonball Z (obviously)
    Monster **
    Steins;Gate **

After watching Steins Gate, I realized that I hate that it ended. I was and still am completely addicted to that series. It is one of the most amazing hidden gems of the anime world. I am looking for a suggestion for another anime. I want one as epic or near as epic as Steins Gate. I like the incorporation of science -- or pseudo-science in anime, but I also like the general genre of what Steins;Gate was. Looking at this list, it seems that I tend to watch darker animes (Death Note, Claymore, Steins;Gate, Monster were the animes I enjoyed the most).
    Thank you.

Edit: I would prefer an anime which I do not have to commit to watching weekly, I would like to watch an anime that has already come to a conclusion (ended). If you can mention one that has not ended but is still exceptionally good, that is okay as well. SUB or DUB is ok, I have no preference.

Try Serial Experiment Lain and I am not sure if Deadman Wonderland's anime is finished yet, I know the manga is finished.

I have been googling results for a little while. Would you guys recommend Ergo Proxy, Welcome to NHK, Darker Than Black, or Guilty Crown?

    Guilty Crown looks definitely interesting.

Do you limit your attention to animated series only? No Manga/Manwha?

Ergo Proxy was pretty good but I cannot remember if I finished it or not. And I have heard nothing but good things about Welcome to NHK.

    No, but I prefer anime.
    I would recommend Ergo Proxy.

My top list of recent years:
    1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
    2. Same
    3. Hellsing OVA
    4. Code Geass

Since I stopped watching anime on a daily basis I can only give you the must watches of longer ago.

    Of all times:
    1. Cowboy Bebop
    2. Neon Genesis Evangelion, but only if you can handle crying boys. Well..a boy... and the main char in the series /le sigh.
    3. Escaflowne ( I feel old now )
    4. Berserk (It's different from the manga, but from my perspective the ending is so, so much better the way the story is told in the anime. One warning, do not spend time researching the ending!
    5. Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood
    6. HOW COULD I FORGET!? FLCL

    And then there's some others:
    Trigun
    Gungrave (50% mafia/50% gunwielding dragonball z)

I will probably come up with more.

    Manga:

    - Sun Ken Rock (adult) http://mangafox.me/manga/sun_ken_rock/ You will shed manly tears while reading Sun-Ken Rock.
    - The Breaker http://www.mangareader.net/530/the-breaker.html
    - The Breaker: New Waves http://www.mangareader.net/the-breaker-new-waves Like DragonballZ? This shit is for you and will likely never end up as an anime. Since it's not Japanese. Read the Breaker first
    - The god of Highschool http://www.mangareader.net/the-god-of-high-school This shit's awesome, just like the above, currently one of my favs.
    - Gamaran http://www.mangareader.net/408/gamaran.html
    - Feng Shen Ji http://www.mangareader.net/feng-shen-ji - Full color
    - Tower of God: http://www.mangareader.net/1757/tower-of-god.html
    - Girls of the Wilds (SFW) http://www.mangareader.net/girls-of-the-wilds
    - Team Medical Dragon: http://www.mangareader.net/429/team-medical-dragon.html
    - special-martial-arts-extreme-hell-private-high-school : http://www.mangareader.net/special-m...te-high-school
    - One punch man: http://www.mangareader.net/onepunch-man
    - City of Darkness http://www.mangareader.net/city-of-darkness Full colored martial arts manga.

P.S. Never watch Dubs, unless it's DBZ. All Japanese voice actors are high-pitched little girls in that. In my humble opinion, the few voice actors America has, definitely doesn't cut it.

Perhaps I missed it but how has no one recommended Code Geass yet? Certainly one of the best anime I've had the pleasure of watching.

Damn straight! They made many rip-offs later on, but the original is one of the best anime!

Editing my post with this, I just have to -_-

i recommended it in the official recommendation thread where he also asked this question after being pointed towards it

I think one of the 4 threads on this that already has passed 4 pages needs to be made sticky. Anyway Code geass is brilliant, both FMA are very good (everyone says FMA:B is the best but I assume they all watch FMA and then waited about 5 years to watch FMA:B, if thats the case I kind of understand, but imo you NEED to watch FMA first otherwise the first 15 episodes will mean nothing to you and will feel rushed, which they were). Fate/Zero if you are okay with subs (I don't think it will get dubbed if the producers history is anything to go by ). Baccano! is also a really good anime.

I don't know if avatar: the last airbender counts as an anime, but watch it anyway. The pacing is a lot better than something like Bleach where they can go on for entire seasons without something important happening.

From the ones you asked about I'll tell you that Welcome to the NHK is amazing.

I can also recommend Clannad, amazing story and you really get emotionally attached to the characters. I cried a bit in the 2nd season, it's very touching and sad.

Strongly recommend Darker than Black, seems a perfect fit for you.

Berserk is set in middle ages, but is a manga/anime (read the manga, anime is only 1 season) that goes a lot of different places, and is very dark, but very good.

First of the North star is a martial arts manga/anime, but is very good. It is a bit dark, not to dark though, but very enjoyable.
