Though I took a pride and satisfaction in tanking with my Paladin, and I do miss being able to do some crazy/interesting specs, on the whole, the game is in a much better place now.

...now if we want to talk about WotLK servers, my answer might be different. Paladin was so much more fun to play before this Holy Power bullshit. Especially Prot.

    I'd more than likely roll a side character on a vanilla server ONLY if;

    1) It was free,
    2) hybrids were balanced,
    3) had Ally Shaman / Horde Paladin

Vanilla? no. TBC with them adding new raids and such but staying in TBC at 70, yes. The only 2 things I miss about Vanilla is no flying mounts and Naxx as it was meant to be.

I guess I got spoiled on my warrior tank.. I tanked certain bosses but normally topped damage as tank/warrior in dps gear. It was a joy back then rocking all the bwl/mc/aq40 dps gear and speccing prot..never took the mandatory skill...taunt or whatever it was.

THEY would have to pay ME to do that. Sure, I might check it out to kill the nostalgia for good, but that's it.

Why pay when you can find many Vanilla Blizz-like private servers. Sure there isn't as big of a community but they exist for every era of wow and even many of them that focus on certain aspects of the game.

Yes I would. Vanilla WoW is not just 'weapon skill leveling..healer pigeon-holing, respeccing costs and training costs'. It's also the period of the game when it was an actual open-world role-playing game, instead of an excuse of it with just 5-7 zones and linear progression almost everywhere. Tenths of zones, racial campaigns, side-questing, exploration, secrets to uncover, class quests, actually long epic questlines. I would certainly pay to be able to do those once more.

As for the 'it was good for its time' way of thinking: what exactly is that which prevents the omissions and mistakes of vanilla WoW to get fixed instead of entire features taken away. Why is it one or the other? Because other than a drama queen attitude or just sheer mental incapability, I can find none.

World of WarCraft was released largely unfinished, buggy, and at times even broken. However its essence, that of an open-world role-playing game was perfect. It was an immense world, with adventures and mysteries awaiting players. It is what lured most players to the game. It's what kept them playing it, and it is still what most players look for in it if statistics are to be trusted. And it could be worked on to be done better. Specialisations could be improved to be brought to equal standing. Quests made more interesting, without taking their challenging aspects away by introducing shameful tools like a map tracker for quests. Etc. Instead most of what made the game exciting got taken away for convenient streamlined boredom. Instead of getting more exciting the game got more Facebook-like. And the players instead of adventuring ended up gathering points.

Noway would i pay for it, if such a server were made available I would try it again, for pvp.
I never really got used to pvp with resilience.

However there isn't enough in vanilla to make me wanna pay extra to get to play it

As a matter curiosity I might. But not for long and I certainly wouldn't pay for it.

And it's not going to happen any time soon at any rate.

Gods no. I wouldn't play on a Vanillia server if it was fucking FREE.

I think alot of people who think they'd like to go back to Vanilla would have a VERY rude awakening if they ever actually DID get the chance.

Id roll an alt just to do 40man raids for the first time (and probably suffer with them).

    tBC is a different story

    Holy crap, no.

People don't realize how uncomfortable rose colored glasses actually are. That is, until they are on a vanilla server, and discover that all those rose colored glasses are put up your butt.

I would not pay for it, but I would level a new toon just for nostalgia.

the game is very different now to then, a level 60 now with all the spell/talent changes would make mincemeat of a lvl 60 from vanilla with the toolkits available..

I would go back, but only for pvp.

I wouldn't pay, but if they added one i'd play on it for fun.
