Well, I mean, I've had times where I would make friends with a bunch of people and then we would get together after school and I would STILL feel awkward and almost always leave early with some sort of "Hey guys...mom told me I had to get home early".
I don't groups well
Yeah, NC is a bit of a hike. You'd spend more time driving than actually being here. :/
Hibachi somethingaruther? It's right next to a Royal Christian Bookstore or something. Mr. Eternal could tell me what it was. Let me text him and ask.
Pesky thing, money.
Ehem...

so criticisms on my new avatar/signature? no one? well I guess I'm just gonna go into the corner
My main issue is that I was conditioned to meet people by a relatively small school system. When I 'met' someone back then, I saw them, I learned their name, but there was no pressure to walk up and say hi. They'd be there tomorrow, and the day after that, so on and so forth.
So when I 'met' someone, I had time to observe them. (This sounds creepy, I know, but bear with me.) I had time to gauge out their personality, what sensitive topics they might have, who their natural friends are. That way I knew the 'optimal' way to approach them; making snarky remarks nearby, just saying hi, doing something nice spontaneously. I could get a feel for who they were as a person before the time came where I either had to say hi, or walk away having never met them.
The real world doesn't work quite like that, and I've yet to catch up. So normally in groups I'm not super-familiar with, I'm the quiet, awkward one. If there's 1-2 people I'm really familiar with in the group, and if the group's small enough, I can be way more spontaneous than I give myself credit for. So you guys coming to the meetup will likely see my more spontaneous side if Valcron makes it, because I'm very good friends with him (for no good reason, I literally do not understand our friendship.)
