lalalalalalalallala i am bored
Bored.
I know this is a super late response, and the people who were in this discussion are most likely not here, but that video sums up my feelings nicely, and I really need to get this off my chest.
I don't want people to stop expressing their frustration with it, either. I won't get discourage from posting here, in fact, I'll most likely try and post more or help the person specifically if they're perturbed or showing signs of distress. That's usually why I like when people ask for help.
I was simply upset because the same people in this thread keep saying that they aren't very good when they see my work, yet refuse to accept help? I mean, if people can't muster the will to do something for their own sake or reason, then they're literally asking for someone else to be the reason they are working towards it. To refuse it after asking just gets annoying after awhile. You either need the motivation of others, or you don't.
Really, this is more of a question of what's meaningful in life to the person though. It's usually why I try and push people to find what they really want to do, or really enjoy doing, before getting all hung up on the meaninglessness of what they're doing. If you can't state what is most meaningful to yourself, you can't possibly state how sad you are about the meaninglessness you can't even define.
I figure the people who this is directed to wont see it, but, I wanted to get it out anyways because I really am kind of sick of people replying to my art posts with convincing themselves to give up on pursuits because of someone else.
I whip this quote out every now and then because it defines a lot of how I view things now:
"What disturbs men's minds is not events but their judgments on events... And so when we are hindered or disturbed, or distressed, let us never lay the blame on others, but on ourselves, that is, on our own judgments."
To put it simply: What other people think really doesn't matter. It may seem selfish, but at the end of the day, no person other then yourself is responsible for your own happiness or meaning. As soon as you give away your ability to pursue something you care a lot about because of what someone else has to say or do about it, it isn't your pursuit anymore, is it? It's theirs. No one has ever been happy as an individual defined by someone else beyond anything but a blissful ignorance. True altruism can only come from someone who cares about themselves, to which they have the sympathy to care for another.
I just want to see people take responsibility for their happiness. It's something I see far too many fumble with because they're waiting for someone or something else to make them happy.
I can say with a high certainty that no external source or remedy can heal internal pain directly, especially not that of guilt. I've dealt far too much with an inferiority complex hanging around my past to know that there's no reason to look down upon, or up at, another human being because they're just that, a human, a person, an individual, like anyone else.
Anyways, I need sleep. lol
