    You Are Insignificant...

Your existence is insignificant. You are a here for a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of time. You are highly insignificant in the world, and the world is insignificant in the galaxy, and the galaxy is insignificant in the universe. The Earth is tiny and is only here for a fraction of time, a blink of an eye in the larger scheme of things. You will be completely forgotten and so will any memory of you. Nothing you ever say, do, or think will ever matter in any way, shape, or form, and neither will it last in any way.

You are completely and totally insignificant.

This should be clear and obvious to anyone anyway.
So what are you trying to tell us?

I've seldom seen such an incredibly unnecessary post. 100% atheist propaganda, too.

I beg to differ. One man can change the world.

    Hooray, OP. You're depressing.

What is to be discussed exactly?

Your efforts are insignificant! I will tear your world apart!

You're right except for the last part.. peoples actions do last in one way or another. Our modern civilization has evolved purely on the actions of others, whether positive or negative. Laws are changed based upon what people do. Sure, names get forgotten in the vortex of time.. but actions.. they can last indefinitely.

Its a contextual question. In your life-span you can be significant.

Most people know and acknowledge this, but that doesn't mean we should just stick our heads into the sands and pray for a mercifull ending

That's great, no responsibilities to the universe, just for ourselves. How is that depressing?

Don't bring that into this... it'll end badly for both the thread and you for commencing it.

Edit - guess I should contribute somewhat. Our bodies and everything we do is fighting against Entropy but Entropy will eventually win over all of us, it's just a case of us beating entropy. It's a fight that we will eventually lose so we should just make the most out of what time we've got, and maybe we can extend our fighting time for a bit longer.

What does this have to do with atheism?

That one man is statistically very unlikely to be you though.

Anyway OP, that's very obvious and not at all profound or enlightening. Luckily it doesn't bother me because my happiness doesn't hinge on universal significance.

Since when do we judge significance by an individuals impact on the entire timeline of the universe?

Us atheists don't necessarily feel insignificant. We believe that members of mankind can be very significant to our civilization by the works we achieve in life.

It's a counter to the idea that every human being is special and uniquely loved in God's eyes.
