Thread: T15 Set Bonus

    T15 Set Bonus

I've just had another read of the blue posts from Blizzard concerning the T15 set bonuses and have come up with some interesting numbers.
These numbers are based on my current gear as of 5.1, and are likely not 100% accurate, I cannot link my armoury, but you can find me as Coreius - Frostmane EU.

    2 Set

With Mastery set at 2100, I came up with these statistics:
PPM Min Damage Max Damage Average Average DPS
    MM 1 16000 24000 20000 1666.666667
    SV 1.2 16000 24000 20000 2000
    BM 0.7 19680 29520 24600 1435

Considering how far behind Marksman is in the current DPS tables, I'm surprised to see that Survival is going to be receiving the highest PPM rate out of the three speccs, and that despite benefiting from Mastery, Beast Mastery is actually going to suffer the most, and the damage of the summoned Thunderhawk will not exceed Marksman until 5043 Mastery before buffed.
I can understand why BM does not receive as large a benefit as the other two speccs, as BM damage is already so high, however, it would make more sense for MM's PPM and SV's PPM to switch places. This becomes more evident through further analysis of the 4set.

    4 Set

Again, with Mastery set at 2100, I received these results for the 4 set (I took my average Wild Quiver damage as Marksman over the course of 9 hours of boss encounters and then scaled it by a factor of 5/4 to reach average weapon damage).

PPM Damage Total of 3 Attacks Average DPS
    MM 3 29784 89352 1489.2
    SV 3 34251.6 102754.8 1712.58
    BM 3 29784 89352 1489.2

As Survival is already ahead from the 2 set damage, we can see that from the 4 set, survival gains an even larger bonus from this set bonus as well, resulting in the following DPS totals:

    MM 3155.8667 DPS
    SV 3712.58 DPS
    BM 2924.2 DPS

I'm not sure what you guys think, but I'd love to hear how you feel about the PPM and Mastery benefits for the speccs.

Just one final point, if the PPM of SV and MM were switched, we would see these totals:

    MM 3489.2 DPS
    SV 3379.2467 DPS
    BM 2924 DPS

not sure how this PPM/real PPM works but does your analysis account for relatively different number of shots per spec that have chance to proc 2pc/4pc bonuses?

You mean over crit? Probably not, but someone will do the math eventually.

I wouldn't believe so. It would still be Crit > Mastery. Both the hunter, the pet, and the proc of the 2pc benefit from crit. Only the pet and the proc benefit from the mastery.

In reply to Deepfriedegg, yes I have accounted for differing PPM per specc based on the number of shots.

Also, I would agree that this will not make Mastery the best stat for BM, for the same reasons as Pureto has outlined. Also, in my analysis, I found that BM would require well over 5k mastery (42.82% mastery buffed) for the 2 set to offer a greater benefit than it does for Marksman, let alone Survival.

    Why make another thread?

I specifically made that thread so no other threads would be made and clog up the system.

I read the post by ghostcrawler like this:

the thunderhawk will cast lightning bolt 5 times and each would hit for 16k-24k nature damage. You are doing your math by assuming that all 5 will hit for X and that will add up to 16k-24k. I'm not sure what is right, we'll have to see.

Also I did my math presuming they could crit as well. It wouldn't make sense for them not to.

    For MM:
    every minute
    2 pc: 1 proc yielding (80k-120k)-(160k-240k) damage (1333.3333 dps - 2000 dps) - (2666.66666667 dps - 4000 dps)
    4 pc: 3 procs yielding 300% weapon damage. ~35k-70k damage a hit. 105k - 210k

    For BM:
    Every minute
    2pc: .7 proc yielding (78k-117k)-(156k-235k) damage (1300 dps - 1950 dps) - (2600 dps - 3916.66666667 dps)(40% mastery)
    4pc: 105k - 210k damage 1750 dps - 3500 dps

    For SV:
    Every minute
    2pc: 1.2 procs yielding (96k-144k)-(192k-288k) damage (1600 dps- 2400 dps) - (3200 dps - 4800 dps)
    4pc: 3 procs yielding 126k - 252k (20% mastery) (2100 dps - 4200 dps)

you added BMs mastery to your MM equation.

Didn't they say that haste affects real PPM when they introduced it for weapon enchants? If so, it should affect MM equally.

With Mastery set at 2100, I came up with these statistics:
Why would you set mastery at 2100?
This is a setbonus you get from a raid, that means you have atleast your basic Mastery + 3000 from Bok.

You pretty much need a sim for these things because any easy calculation takes into account that you have perfect uptime on every icd.

Another thing to note is that now we're around 115k max dps and a 2k bonus isn't too bad. But we started at 463ilvl this tier and then we did 65k dps.
So depending on what gearlevels we're going to see in T15, the 2p is likely to be useless unless they change it to scaling damage instead of static.
