I use a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 and it does the trick just fine. Not too expensive either.

Yes the CM Hyper 212+ is amazing for the price, i have one my self, and it allowed me to Overclock my phenom II x4 965 Black edition from 3.4 to 4.3 GHZ with a pretty decent voltage increase, also my new cpu the FX 8350 overclocked from 4.0 GHZ to 4.5 still far away from the thermal limit of the CPU, haven't overclocked more due to figuring out the proper voltage settings and such.

I hear the Cooler Master 212 EVO same cooler but better copper pipe design should be better.

The plus, make sure you put the thermal paste on correctly, look up videos, i recommend Arctic silver 5, some might suggest others.

    Here is the EVO http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-...hyper+212+plus

Check out which one is better i guess through reviews, cant go wrong with the hyper 212 +

Should be able to overclock your cpu to 4.5ghz with it.

Noctua NH-C14. The thing is a beast. Any Noctua really but I liked the form factor of this one the best.

Corsair H100i, nothing else if you want to oc to the limit. Best cooler atm available

The Hyper 212 EVO is "okay". It's not the best for its price, but it will work.
I use the Noctua NH-D14, and I can safely say that my overclocking limits is not held back by it, rather by other things.

Phanteks PH-TC14PE is also a very good cooler in the same class as those.

I can attest to that. Love this cooler and the color options are great. Besides that I would mention NH-C14/NH-D14 and H100i. Kraken x60 when/if it's available.

The Swiftech H220 looks amazing, just need them to start selling it! Believe I heard ~$140 somewhere which sounds really good.

This is an extremely good cooler for overclocking. I was able to push a 2500k to 4.8G using one of these and was actually running a respectable voltage on the cores (1.31v) where temps on Prim95 torture topped out at 68/69. Extrememly good cooler.

Just chiming in here, i use a CM hyper 212+ (which i purchased for 20 bucks) on a 2500k @ 4.2ghz/1.295 volts. Max temp ive ever seen on my CPU is 58c during overnight prime 95 runs.

Unless you plan on pushing your CPU to its absolute maximums, i see no reason to spend more.

    Cheap Air - 212 Evo
Expensive Air - Noctua (The performance increase does validate the price jump)
    Liquid - NZXT Kraken X40 (or X60)

i would put a D14 on a stock CPU, in fact i built a server with dual H80s,

a "that'll do" attitude goes nowhere

Why would you use H2O on servers? :P Never seen a server in a case with a large window, so looks doesn't bother?

i want to get one for my rig, simply because even though the D14 is amazing, it's plain ugly, along with their 1200W PSU, to replace the noisy ax1200, but they dont seem to have any american distributors
