How is Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720w / 1000w?

I have atm, Cooler Master Silent Pro M 700w (so the older version of this)
And my biggest "problem" is that pci-e cabel that going out from this is only 6pin & 6+2pin, and my GPU wants 2x 8pin (works with 1x8 and 1x6 so no NEED) but thinking of future etc.
As my plan is to running 2x 7970.

So either I getting one new PSU, I guess 720w is way enough for double gpu, some hdd's, ssd's etc, and 1000w is overkill and only needed for like 3-4 gpu's?

But other question, how is a PCI-e 6pins -> PCI-e 8pins converter working? I know its only grounding on the "2 new pins" but is it recommendend to run with a converter like this? Or is it more recommended to just get "real" 8pins on a new PSU

My old psu can be reused in a future computer for my little sister, so its not total waste to buy a new for just this reason. BUt if its just as good as running converter 6->8pin as it is to have 8pin from begging, I might just get some converters :P

720W is not enough if you plan to overclock your cpu/gpu. Some benchmarks have hit 820-830 watts.

So you would recommend the 1000W If I have as a future plan to go with 2x 7970 and prob gonna OC kinda stupid to keep going with a 700W if its not enough for double 7970 and decent-high OC on the cpu

Just get a corsair AX 850 or seasonic 850X. Should be plenty, might even get away with a 750, but 850 will be enough

Thaught it was a gold version or what not, my bad. Hence i posted the two gold version from corsair/seasonic.

I just dislike coolermaster for PSU's, but a 1000w is a bit overdoing it imo. You should get away with a 850 psu.

Ya I would guess that, but the price diffrent is so low so I dont see any reason to go with a 850 over a 1000 :P Im more future safe with a 1000
I know some ppl do that, but I cant more then love my Silent Pro I have now quite, have never let me down etc

What monitor(s)/resolution are you running that would need CF 7970's? You might be better of with a better Intel CPU/MB ("Haswell" when it ships).

750W is enough for your current system with CF 7970's, if you stick with that i would recommend the XFX Pro Series 750W - 883 SEK + shipping, SeaSonic OEM and modular. The CM Pro is decent but I trust SeaSonic more than "Enhance Electronics".

750 is pushing the psu to it's death and not very much future proof. Be safe and get a AX850 or that 1000W.

Atm with my current setup its 1920x1080 ofc But when its going for 2x 7970 it will be for Eyefinity, 3screens in width so that why Im looking into CF 7970
And ofc I will upgrade my CPU/MOBO before that but in a energy wiew it wont drain much more power then now^^

I will take that one into consider when Im planning

Sure spend an extra 600 SEK ~70% (AX850) extra for something you won't need.

Thx for the info, if its one the edge, I rather just get a 1000w as its in the same price range and I prefer Cooler Master^^

With a more "power friendly" CPU you would need even less power but then you'd have more monitors and it would probably end up being about the same.

Depends if he want quality or a 750 that is running full load 24/7.

The XFX is quality and won't be running full load 24/7.

Video Card 2: AMD Radeon HD 7970
    Video Type: Crossfire

    Regular SATA: 1 HDD
    DRAM SSD: 1 Drive
    DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drive: 1 Drive
    USB: 2 Devices

    Keyboard and mouse: Yes
    System Load: 90 %

    Minimum PSU Wattage: 610 Watts
    Recommended Wattage: 660 Watts

This is with a H100 (which he doesn't have, 2 extra USB devices, fan controller, overclocked...) With an Intel CPU/MB this requirement would be even lower but I'm sure you can find something quality 850W if you like to be extra sure.

Edit: XFX Pro Series 850W - 1012 SEK

But a 750 wont output 100% of that, its like 90-95% right? So easy says 700W output, and your system is 660 recomended, that is kinda on the edge

And as I said, its for future plan, Im into getting a H100i probly, or full water cooling to whole computer = even more power, and compare to you more, I have more fan's then you, I got 1 more hdd, my cpu is higher oc then you
So in end with just upgrades, oc, etc without full watercooling I can land on 700+ :O and then a 720 is kinda low^^

And then it is XFX Pro Series 850w VS Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 1000w And I have no idea how XFX is but I know that cooler master silent pro is really nice.

BUt atleast I need a 850+ for the future if im planing on OC, dual 7970, higher cooling etc

The XFX 850 is SeaSonic OEM which is really good (better than "Enhance Electronics/Cooler Master") . XFX 750W is ~744W/62A so yes enough but 850W if you're concerned it's not.
