Warcraft is basically a ripoff of Warhammer anyway....

    And Starcraft = Warhammer 40K

    For once this is relevant.

Go to the last link in the OP for the site that's the source of the pictures.
The lich king ones look like the 2 statues from Lord of the rings: Fellowship of the rings.

The "draenei" is debatable too. Looks more like a blue human than a space goat.

    Sylvanas though does look similar.

The pose may be LOTR (not familiar enough to debate you on that one), but the armor is unmistakably the Lich King's, right down to the helmet. As for the draenei do you not see the hooves and the face tentacles? :P

The concept here is to make it close enough so people will come based on the familiarity but not exactly the same so they can say they came up with the idea all on their own. It's very typical actually.

For example, instead of StarCraft they have "StarStory". Instead of World of Warcraft they have "Land of Warcraft". They then fill in ambiguous characters and themes that resembles things you find in SC and WoW but yet not quite the same. But please don't confuse these tactics with "not copying" and "completely original". The company rather clearly shows their intention to use the WoW and SC theme to draw customers.

Lastly, I highly doubt Blizzard will take on a Chinese company in China. I seriously doubt a foreign company can win a IP suit in China. Especially the company will simply use your line, "it's just general fantasy type characters", or "it's not world of warcraft, it is land of warcraft. this is completely our own new idea".

I thought I'd link some images from their own website: http://joyland.ccjoy.com/joylandweb/main.html

Even if you do not know any Chinese, try to simply mouse over and not read the English translation. Let's see if you can find out which one is warcraft section (if you happen to play starcraft, try to see if you can identify that one as well).

Anyways, here are 2 images that carries scary resemblance:

Again, feel free to say the design is completely original. I know that's what the designer of the theme park will say.

Definitely not original, but might be just different enough. (The sylvanas statue and that ride description are a bit much) They borrowed from quite a few different games, not just WoW. Companies do this all the time. I think there was a thread earlier on how Warcraft and Starcraft were originally ideas for Warhammer/Warhammer 40k games which fell through. So they changed stuff...just enough not to get sued and had a new IP.

People saying this doesn't look like WoW at all - the pictures might be different SLIGHTLY, but the text is same. Hell, people mentioned the Kael'Thas (no changes!) picture, and the WoW Restaurant / Path to Warcraft.

Guess what you get from clicking on the WoW restaurant? Yup, straight copy from the site -

"The Dark Gourmet Asssociation strongly recommends the WoW restaurant - the signature dishes here are: hot fire sand eel scales, ZANGARMARSH fish pie, roast KALDOREI spider, dark magic cookie, vitality soup, blabla."

Also, while maybe not a copy, the background for the Mole World thing, the Tree looks quite similar to Teldrassil/Nordrassil/Whatever one it was.

Oh, and the Silver Moon Kingdom, the picture on the Fairy Lake page - the houses are exactly similar to those in Blood Elf starting area...
This place just screams of rip-offs, some are even plain copies.

Although, it would be weird for Blizzard to waltz in there and say it's a rip-off, since the Chinese would most likely laugh them out and point at their MoP expansion...

Clearly you didn't read or look at any of the links posted and just commented on the title of the thread.
Actually, I went through the slide show of pics they had on the article about it. As I said before, nothing looks even remotely similar or appealing to Wow. Unless you just automatically think all generic fantasy stuff looks similar to Wow.
