a suggestion has been made, I will just direct you to a list with some good films. I have seen most http://www.superliminal.com/melinda/tgmovies.htm
Best ones are
Beautiful Boxer (2003), Soldier's Girl (2003), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) <-it's a really worth while rock opera, Different for Girls (1996)
not on that list but a fun movie "Girls Will Be Girls" (2003)
The catch, all the rolls of all the female characters in the film are played by queens. Even the picture of a little girl is the directors son in a dress and wig. It plays like a soap opera but it is hilarious because they play it 'straight'.Originally Posted by Wikipedia
Also I said Hard or soft Sci-Fi, not Space opera. I do love Firefly and Serenity but they are a classic example of a Space opera.
Ok so for my next suggestion Time Travel.

For me, some old school Sci Fi or Horror. Cult preferably.
I think Intouchables would go under a criminal movie wouldn't it? If you havent seen it, go see it!
I like action packed movies. For example, Skyfall, Looper, Mission Impossible etc
A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths.
A african american, a muslim, and a alien walk into a bar, what does everyone say? Hello Mr. President
Snatch would be great if for some god forsaken reason you haven't seen it yet, if you have: then I will suggest the lesser known RocknRolla. Can't go wrong with Guy Ritchie.
I would like a crime movie, preferably with dark humor involved as well. British films like In Bruges or RocknRolla are my favorites.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every moment of it.
Sane people are boring. Or else I've been around insane people so long that I can't tell the difference anymore. Either way, chase away those silly notions of linear thought: they have never done anyone good.
